Do any of your halls allow them?? In my contract at East Wind it says no shots but I feel like that is circumstantial. Sometimes places give them but not in the actually shot glasses. I was just at a wedding at North Ritz that did allow them.
Any past EW brides know if they served shots?

My brother got married at the East Wind in 2011 and that was the first time I ever saw my dad really drink/take shots!

My hall said absolutely no shots...they even said all beer will be served in a glass because bottles in your pictures looks tacky lol This was one of the major things that sold us. We thought they sounded experienced, classy, and quite frankly, putting this one limit is the one thing keeping me calm about the open bar and certain guests. Im all about drinking all night, but I don't want anyone to do so too fast lol.
I will say at my sisters wedding, which I will not mention the hall as this is probably illegal..., they said no shots. However, her and her husband had a tradition with a group of friends to do a shot at each of their weddings. So they asked the bartender, and just for this one shot they were served in not-shot glasses. So I wouldn't be too upset about it.
I do believe David Tutera would say no shots either haha

I've been to a few weddings where shots were a no-no. But, at some venues the bartenders served us smaller amounts in big glasses that we took as shots. Others wouldn't budge. Even when we pleaded, lol. I'm having a vodka shot station at my cocktail our so I know my venue permits it! I guess it depends on how strict they are.

This! I've been to numerous weddings where the bartenders do this. My venue offered to bring shots onto the dance floor but I'm still on the fence about this!
I've actually asked my venue for a no shot policy. They don't allow them anyway but I also asked that they don't serve them in any other glass. I don't think a wedding is an appropriate place for shots. Also. I have friends and family that simply cannot be trusted.

We always order things on or 'neat' so it comes without ice. Never had a problem.

Actually, my brother got married at EW in 2009 and there weren't shots. HOWEVER, my fiance (BF at the time) tipped the bartenders very well and brought his own disposable shot glasses. He would order 4 or 5 soco and limes on the rocks, bring them pack to our table and divy them up into shot glasses. No one stopped us once.

Shots at a wedding??
Anyone know specifically about crest hollow and this topic w shots?
I know that they don't allow shots at Suffolk County venues. They did give the bridal party shots at my brother's venue before they announced everyone in! I hadn't heard about not allowing them at all at Nassau venues though.

My venue has a 'no shots' policy and that was fine by us. I think the only people who would enjoy shots are my side of the guest list lol. But as long there is an open bar, I'm sure no one will feel terrible about not doing shots.

It's actually a law that as long as there's an open bar shot are not allowed but it all depends of the bartender and the venue. I've worked at a few different catering halls and basically, if you tip the bartender- you can have all of the shots that you'd like even if the bride says absolutely no shots!

I actually had them add 'no shots' to our contract. I also am planning to have them threaten their bartenders that if they give shots, I will raise holy hell and the RH will have to deal with it. I think a wedding is no place to take shots. It's open bar, not 'get as drunk as you can as fast as you can and act like a moron', which is what happens when people do shots. I can't control the 'vodka straight up' orders, but I'd like to control what I can.
