Should a DVD player be sporadic?

Should a DVD player be sporadic?

We just bought a SONY DVD/VCR combo player. I think it is damaged but since I know nothing of DVD players I was hoping someone could enlighten me.

I rented 3 DVDs from blockbuster. The first one played just fine. The next day I put in the 2nd one and the player didn't acknowledge it. I put the first one in again and it played and then I put the 2nd one back in and it finally played. The 3rd day the same thing happened (it didn't play at first but when I put the previously played DVD in and then reinstered the 3rd disk it worked.)

This shouldn't be happening, right?

I would try movies that weren't rented before you go through the hassle of trying to return a broken item. Sometimes I have problems with rented DVD's. Try out a couple of new movies and if you're still having the problem then I would say it's the DVD player.

Hey - thanks for responding!

Hmmmm....I never thought the DVDs could be damaged. I'll try renting a few more and purchasing 1 and try it out.

Then what happens if you rent a DVD from Blockbuster and it doesn't read on your player. Do they give you another one at no cost?
