I did....my RSVP card was a card that folded in half and I wrote the number on the inside, at the very top. I've had quite a few that I couldn't read the writing or the names were left off. It was VERY helpful!

Re: should I?
I want to do it too, but I have to see if my boss will mind adding them to them, since he'll have to print them separate. But I do love that idea, in case someone forgets to put a name

i think you should. if someone sends a blank one youll be kicking yourself for not doing it
ETA: my cousin also told me that for her response cards she was getting back people in the family who didnt include 1st names like
Mr. & Mrs. Smith
but she didnt know WHICH mr & mrs smith it was!!!
This happened to me!!! I had to look at the postmark to see where the RSVP was mailed from and match that up to the city where the guests lived.

Re: should I?
You should and you should buy that spy pen with the blacklight from Toys R Us. I swear, that is the part of wedding planning that I'm looking forward to most. Every day when FH asks what wedding stuff we have to do, I say 'get the spy pen!' Of course we don't need it till we have invites so I don't have it yet.

Re: should I?
Definitely number them. I put a tiny number in pencil on the inside of my response card it made my life sooo much easier especially since I knew 1-50 were FH's parents responses 51-100 were my parents and 101-150 were ours. I knew exactly which list to turn to right away.

Re: should I?
I agree with anyone that has said yes. I have found it so useful. From not knowing FHs families names.. or not being able to read it or even there being a jr and sr invited..
good luck

Maybe I am a little slow, but I don't get it... How do you numbe that backs?
you could use like a pencil or even a black light pen to put a # on the back of the RSVP cards.
so when you are putting the invites in their envelopes--you can have your address list in front of you, and number each invitee.
#1 Mr. & Mrs. Alan Ale #2 Mr. & Mrs. Benjamin Block #3....etc.
so that corresponding # of the person on your list--(like a spreadsheet) is written on the back of the rsvp card. so when someone sends their RSVP back......and if they don't fill in the M_______ part when you get the RSVP back--all you have to do is verify the # on the back with your invitee list to make sure you know who it is!
I get now!! Duh Thats a really really good idea! I definitly have to do that!

Re: should I?
i would def. do it. I am planning on numbering my response cards cause i can list off the top of my head a handful of people who will probably forget to fill in their names..lol. It's def. worth the extra time. My girlfriend did it for her wedding and she was so glad she did when she started getting her responses back!!!!!!!!!!!
