Wow that is pretty messed up! I'd be a little pissed too. It's not far at all!! Some people just look for any excuse... try not to let it bother you too much though... you know that the people who matter most to you will be there, even if it IS in Guam!!!

Yes, I'd definitely be mad if I were you. One thing I've learned is that while I personally would travel anywhere for anyone (and have), there are a lot of people who dont think that way. Unfortunately people dont always see things the same way. But you do have every right to be mad.

That is wrong...people can car pool!! But look on the bright side maybe they will send you a gift!!
And honestly if they are older people I would try not to be to insulted....I swear older women are afraid to get behind the wheel....if that is any consolation to you...

Re: Should i be pi$$ed?
Awe thanks girls.... i know for some older ladies its a bit of a journey for, but it was just the principle, like b/c you have a to cross a bridge you arent going to come.
My mom tried to take that into consideration and made sure she booked something right off a main highway and had a parking lot and it was early enough so people wouldnt get stuck in traffic.
I guess you cant please everyone. Oh well.

You should tell them that there's a first time for everything
It's not that bad going to Douglaston.. my feelings are if they really cared they would be there for your shower.
I had people as far out as New Jersey and DH's parents who live in PA come to my shower (of course his mother sponsored the shower so she had to be there). But I did find out that those that really care will go the extra mile to be there.

Re: Should i be pi$$ed?
wow that stinks. my friend just had the same issue: she is from Brooklyn and her FH is from Queens. All but his mom, aunts and sisters declined.
