Don't be upset, just cut them off... These are friends that are not about the friendship but about themselves...

Cut them off!!

I had a similar situation - had a friend that I was there for when she had her baby shower, baby's birthdays, etc. Wedding came around, it was as if it was just another day -- I cut them off.

i would cut these people off - they obviously don't care enough about you to be there for the special events in your life

I'd be upset too! Some people are just selfish , your true friends will be just as excited for you as you were for them. I know people can't always make parties but a card at the very least should be sent.

Yea I feel you. I have a friend (her daughter is my FG) was at a destination wedding during my shower....and I don't even expect a gift let alone a card from her even though she wasn't there. Which is sad.

Even though we went to their wedding last year...baby shower....baby birthday..christening..etc, and gave gifts for everything.

It's sad but unfortunately some people are truly to self absorbed to be happy for you and you don't really know this until events like you wedding or marriage take place. I wish it were different. I am adjusting to the realization that not everyone believes in treating you how you treated them.

No don't even take it personally. I had a 'friend' and I use that term loosely, who just didn't show up to my bridal shower last week. She didn't text, call, nothing. My mother had to end up paying for her, because she responded yes. My MOH texted her halfway through the shower asking where she was, and she responded 2 hours later, 'I have cramps.' Grow up lady, you are almost 30 years old, you have cramps??? Lame-o excuse.

Anyway, she sent me a message later that night on Facebook!!! Saying sorry she didn't come, I was in bed in pain, blah blah blah.
I wrote her back two days later and said basically sorry that you were in pain, but in order to not have this problem for the wedding, I am responding for you NO! I uninvited her via FB and it felt good....She wrote back, ok, I understand. ***???

Anyway, point being some people really show their true colors during happy moments for you because either they are jealous, or just t0o selfish to care. It does hurt a little, not gonna lie, but I can't have friends like that in my life at this point.

Agreed!

I have a BM that seemed into it at the beginning, and then she got engaged! She's getting married in Oct and ever since she said yes she couldn't care less about my wedding. She missed the shower AND the bachelorette party and will be missing the rehearsal dinner. She is the only BM doing her own hair and makeup (yes girls, her own hair) and not getting her nails done with us.

Thanks ladies!!! I feel better knowing that I am not the only one who has these same disappointments in people! We will get through it and I am following your advice and I am going to cut them off, I am just too through. If I could uninvite them from the wedding I would....

Until next time.... LOL

Just cut them off........i had a friend like that. When she was getting married, I was a bridesmaid and I did everything for her and etc. Now that its my turn, she doesnt wanna do anything. She said yes to being a bridesmaid but I cut her off when I had enough of her bulls*#t. We just stopped talking. Everything was ALWAYS about her. She wasnt invited to my shower or my wedding.
