Just got a call from the music director at the church where my wedding will be
She was calling because I am getting married this April
I was like no April 2011
She responded with Oh they have the wrong date in the book then
I have to wait until Wed when the Deacon is in to recheck that my date is April 2011
Should I be sweating????

Re: Should I be worried???
I wouldn't worry too much. There probably was just some mis-communication between the two of them. And Wed. is a long way off to be stressing over it. I'm sure it will be fine.

Definatley follow up with them - if you can, go down in person!!! Speaking from prior experience; I booked my previous church two and a half years in advance - spoke with the priest over the phone (I live in the Bronx) and gave him my date so he could check the books- he said 2011 would not be a problem since it was so far out. I scheduled an appt with him as soon as he pulled out the book and confirmed the date for me and FH but I had to wait to meet in person about a month later bc he said he had vacation and a conference to attend - come our meeting he told me there was someone else’s name in the book!!!! The worse part was that the people in the book confirmed their date two full weeks after I had spoken and confirmed with the priest meaning that I had the date booked first before they gave it to someone else. I was told to call back in a couple of days bc he had to check with the deacon - excuse after excuse and phone call after phone call. It was his mistake because he didn’t initially make the effort to write in the date after it was confirmed and due to his lack of communication with the deacon/office who booked the other couple. He first blamed the office for not writing it in (though I spoke directly to him) and then he blamed it on my not being there in person which is a crock of bs- but had I known this to be true (hah) I wouldn’t have waited till he got back from his vacation and met with the deacon (to think I worked around his schedule) ughhhh so frustrating.. Point is... at no point in time did he accept any fault and after many tears and his lame attempts for excuses, stalling and then flat out ignoring messages (from myself, FH and my parents)... I really didn’t want to cuss at a priest (and believe me I had some pretty intense conversations with god bc boy was I tempted to) There was no attempt to honor my date given the fact that I booked with the priest before the deacon double-booked my ceremony. *Sry rant over - I doubt this is your case but an example that these things do happen* If this church is important to you - don't let someone else’s mistake have such a huge impact on your day - if its not their priority make it be yours regardless of what they say. I finally figured some things happen for a reason and I am in love with my new parish (yep after being ignored I had to pretty much find a new church - which I am now a proud new member of) at the end of the day I also felt it best to find a welcoming church (especially after that experience). Best of luck - Let me know how it all turns out. *edited for clarity
