Background: My cousin lives in Maryland. About a year and a half before the actual date of the wedding, I asked her to be a BM. She seemed honored. Three months before the wedding she dropped out of the BP saying she couldn't afford the dress. I knew this was complete bullcr@p and so did everyone else in my family. Once she realized how much she'd pissed everyone off, she suddenly was able to borrow the money from her grandparents (who are my aunt and uncle), and was back in the BP. She and her Mom (who is a complete you-know-what) were both invited to my shower, with the expectation that since they are from Maryland, they prob. wouldn't come. Well, not only did they not come, but they didn't even respond. My Aunt responded for them. And.... neither my cousin nor her Mom even sent a gift or a card. She's in the freaking BP and didn't even acknowledge my shower. She won't even come in to NY until the morning of the wedding. She hasn't been a part of any part of the wedding, not the shower, not the bachelorette party, nothing. Question: I am VERY tight with money and will be buying an inexpensive gift for the others in my BP. I will be giving the gifts beforehand, not the day of the wedding. Should I even get her anything? I asked FH and he said just b/c she didn't do the right thing doesn't mean I shouldn't do the right thing. What do you girls think?

tough situation, but I would probably get her something.... maybe not something as nice as the rest of the BP (unless it's jewelry to wear at your wedding - in that case, you can't leave her out)

Since you're tight with money, I'd get something very minimal for her. I'm sure there are many things you can get cheaply that seem nicer or more expensive than they are. Even if you get her a picture frame for a few bucks, it's a nice gesture.

F that b*tch!!!
Only kidding.
You know what the right thing is.......
Bit your tongue and do what's best!!! She may not have class, but I know you do. You show her how it's done. With the simple fact that she is your blood (even if you aren't close) give her that much respect. Even if she hasn't shown you any.
You never know, later on, it might come back and bit you in the butt. So do what's right so no one can say anything to you later!!!
Good luck girl!!!

And thanks everyone. I have decided I will get her something from the dollar store. Ha ha ha... okay fine... maybe I'll do a little better than that.
