Should I buy my wedding band in the same material as my E-ring?

when i try on my platinum e ring with my mom's white gold wedding band ( like every day LOL ) her ring makes MY ring look dull and blah - so i am going to get a plain platinum band

but since you arent wearing them on the same hand i dont think its a huge deal
