My MOH and I picked out a beautiful, simple strapless gown. She just had a baby and ordered it in a size 12. I figured if she was comfortable in it, so would the others. When I showed everyone the picture they grumbled that it was strapless and they don't feel good ina strapless. I feel bad now. Should I just keep the strapless for everyone or pick an off the shoulder one for the girls and my MOH will wear the strapless?

Re: Should I change my bridesmaids dress?
IMO if the girls are not happy in the dress it will show in the photos! So, why don't you let them try on both & then they can decide.
they might end up liking the strapless. There was NO way I was going to wear a strapless gown & sure enough my gown was strapless!

Ultimately , it's your'e decision. It is your wedding and you are the bride. And you are not going to please everyone. Trust me.

I agree with IrishTracy...they might change their minds once the try it on. If not...let them wear the off the shoulder ones and let your MOH wear the strapless.

Re: Should I change my bridesmaids dress?
I like the off the shoulder on for the BM.
I personall hate wearing strapless, because I always feel it's falling down and squirm all night (even if it looks fine). Plus will it flatter all? Last wedding I was in some looking like they were falling out.
Can spaghetti straps be added to the one you like, so they feel more comfortable?

I think it would look really nice in your photos for all the girls to wear one dress and your MOH to wear the strapless - if they are the same material and color. Have them try both on, and let them order whichever they feel more comfy in. They're both grogeous dresses!

Re: Should I change my bridesmaids dress?
You could offer the BM the dress with the sleeveless and the MOH wears the strapless...BUT may I suggest they try it on first? I thought I didn't want a strapless wedding gown, and that's what I fell in love with.
You could also have spaghetti straps put on the strapless and a wrap or shawl over it. Or maybe the designer has a little jacket....

I have that dress for 2 of my BMs, the other ones are wearing something else. Anyway because we are attaching straps, so that is an option

Re: Should I change my bridesmaids dress?
most strapless dresses come with straps that just need to be attached with a stitch or two. maybe have the straps sewn in and the girls can decide to wear them with straps or not.
good luck!!

Re: Should I change my bridesmaids dress?
my girls all would feel more comfortable with straps so I ordered an extra yard of the material that is used to make their dresses from the designer to make everyone spagetti straps. They wree all so happy that they told me they would not put them on for pictures but just the reception so they could dance and feel comfortable. The material cost me a whopping $25 what about that idea?

MY MOH (my sister) picked out a strapless dress too but I added spaghetti straps to my BM dresses and left my sister's dress strapless.

the strapless one appears to be more drastic- in a very good way. It's not their wedding it's yours. straplessstraplessstrapless..

I think if they would prefer another dress, then they could definitely do it, this way the MOH will stand out more. I like the idea of adding the straps to it! Tell them to try it on, they never know what it will look like on.

Re: Should I change my bridesmaids dress?
this annoys me too. Ultimately, it's the brides decision, and when 3 of my closest firends got married, I had no complaints at all. They wanted strapless BM gows, so I sucked it up and wore them. If you get a good bra and a good seamstress, they shouldn't fall down. I am not big-chested, so I always have that problem.....but to be honest, for one of my other friends weddings, I was MOH and I had an off-the shoulder dress that was so big on top, you saw my bra during the enitre reception. It all depends. You can't please everyone. I was already told by my future MOH 'I don't care what kind of dress you want, you can pick.' So I showed her a strapless dress and she immediately says 'OH NO...ANYTHING but strapless!' TOO BAD! ok, maybe I will do the extra material for spaghetti straps if they are totally miserable.

What if you order extra fabric and have shawls made? Is that a possibility?

I hate the look of shawls but maybe I'll have the try it on and if they are really miserable then I'll seee if they want straps put in.

Re: Should I change my bridesmaids dress?
Have them try the strapless on before you change it. I admit it, I always complained about strapless dresses. I was in a wedding party and was hesitant at first, but when I tried it on, it was fine. And sure enough, I also swore my wedding gown wouldn't be strapless and guess what?? It turned out to be strapless!
