No, Not if you want a Christmas Wedding! We picked the first week in December....and we got comments also.

Do what you want!

I wouldn't put mine that close. The holidays are very stressful for people with preparing and shopping. What about 1 week into the new year. The holiday decorations are still up.

I have to say I'm surprised by the reactions.

I'd absolutely go and wouldn't have a problem with it. If its someone I care about, of COURSE I would be there.

Christmas comes EVERY year, YOUR wedding only happens once.

As someone who is getting married 4 DAYS AFTER christmas, I would hope that my guests don't feel like some posters feel. Actually, everyone that I have spoken to is so excited to have a wedding to go to around the holidays. It's up to you and what you think your guests would be able to do.

My FH and I have 4 weddings next summer, so matter when you have it, people will be feeling the burden on their wallet. Pick a date because that is when you want to get married.

Me personally-I work for three weeks straight up until CHristmas-10-14 hours a day-I grom any where from 20-32 dogs a day for 3 weeks so there is no way I would be able to attend a wedding in most of Dec. A lot of my family does over time-especially for extra X-mas cash. But that is just us.

In all honesty, people are so rude around the holiday times. If your planning a wedding more than a year in advance it shouldn't be a problem. Just send save the dates. My birthday is right around xmas and everyone forgets it. Just because people are buying a few presents and doing a few things shouldn't mean that they forget everything!

I would say if that's the date you want go for it. The daughter of someone I work with had her wedding the weekend before Christmas and she has a huge turnout. But make sure you send out Save the Date cards, otherwise you will definitley get a lot nos.

I think it's fine too! Pick the day you want and the important people will be there. Plus the way I see it, a lot of people have holiday parties around then anyway---would be thrilled to go to a wedding then too!!!

Choose the date you want, but be aware that people that are not that close to you-distant relatives that 'have ' to be invited-or parents friends-or even some of your own friends may not be able to come! With that in mind, I would still choose the date I wanted... people can find an excuse with every date really,..

do what you want to do because it's your wedding day :)

just keep in mind that some people will find reasons no matter what to not attend and doing it that close to xmas will be reason enough for some of those ppl

i learned the hard way when i heard the many excuses ppl had for not being to attend my wedding, oh it's too far, oh i don't have a car to drive there, etc. etc.

you are the bride and if that is when you want your wedding then go for it. If I was an invited guest I would definately still go.

People are going to have a comment no matter what day you plan your wedding for. So I suggest you do what makes YOU happy. All the people that want to be at your wedding will make sure they are able to be there. I would suggest sending out save the dates, so that your guests know in advance about the wedding and are able to plan. I think sending out Christmas cards with save the dates would be really cute!

Re: Should I change my date?

personally, i would go to a wedding then, but that's just me. the major thing i would consider is how many out of town guests you have. just driving around then is hard, let alone flying, plus it's more expensive. if you have a lot of oot guests, i'd reconsider, but if everyone's close, then it should be ok. maybe calla few close people and ask them? did you book already?

Re: Should I change my date?

The only thing that would stop me would be that I have a lot of OOT guests. Now I know my Mom's family would still come, but there are friends and such that would not make it so close to the holidays.

I wouldn't have a problem going to one then at all (being a last minute shopper it might force me to do shopping a lil sooner ....... or later) but again my only concern would be the number and relation of OOT guests!!!

I think it's fine if most people are local.... if alot of OOTs it might be hard and for them to travel during that time.

If it were local I would def go no matter waht....

Re: Should I change my date?

I'm getting married the night after Thanksgiving. I've already heard stuuuuupid comments like, 'Gee, I hope your wedding doesn't end too late...I always go shopping at 5am that day and I'll be DEAD by 6pm! hahahahha' ....I'm sorry that my ONCE IN A LIFETIME WEDDING is affecting your SHOPPING!!!

I was in the same boat as you - I realllllly wanted a Christmas wedding, but not too close, because I don't want to be a burdon on my family. Its in my contract that the hall will be decorated for Christmas for my wedding, so I'm really happy.

Do what YOU want and works best for you and your FH.
Good luck, happy planning

Re: Should I change my date?

I would probably do the weekend before BUT if you have booked things already, I wouldn't bother changing it. Lots of people have their shopping done by then and the ones who don't, usually do it on Christmas Eve anyway!
