Okay, I was just thinking about changing my entire ceremony time so my guests wont have as much time between the ceremony and CH...what do you ladies think of this...
My ceremonys is planned for 4pm and the CH starts at 7..we are supposed to take pics in between, but now I am just thinking we can suck it up and take pics before the ceremony, move the church to 5-530ish and have the CH still start at 7 (Church and RH are about 15-20 mins away). Then we will all arrive to the church together with the pics all taken, take the trolley (instead of limos) from the church to the RH with our families so we can get pics over with there before all of our guests arrive and then show up to the CH about 715ish after relaxing in the bridal suite for a few....how does that sound?
FH is in the shower so I havent even run this by him yet, I just had the brainstorm!!!

As a guest, I would think that it is a great idea.
It really does depend if you want to see him before the ceremony.

Re: Should I change this???
our church is at 1pm and ch at 5pm...we're doing a pre ch ting at 4...and hoping that the driving time and just ppl getting there and walking around and such will kill enough time.
i suggested doing pics before the ceremony bur fh insisted we didnt...but im kinda glad because i want that surprise moment of seeing each other for the first time as i walk down the aisle...so like everyone else said...its up to u if that's imp to you or not.
but just remember its YOUR day...your ONLY day...so do whatever makes u two the happiest.

I totally understand that but for people who do go to the church, they will have nothing to do in between...moving it later might increase the ceremony attendance.

Yes, very important...I know when brides think of this, we think of every guest...But seriously i dont remember the last time i went to a wedding and also attended the ceremony...So most of your guests actually wont be inconvenienced...But if its something you really want to do then do it, but if not seeing eachother before the ceremony is important, then definitely give it more thought. And you will also have to find out if you will be able to start your ceremony later.
I don't know what church you are getting married at, but at catholic churches they have mass on saturdays at 5pm so you wouldn't be able to, or they might have something else scheduled.

My wedding is on a Friday so I dont have to worry about timing...they have a Fri nite mass at 7pm so if we push it to 5, the ceremony will be over by 530-540 and we will be done with the receiving line and pics by 615ish...thats my time line in my head

have a hospitality hour at the RH. We are doing that. We havent chosen a time for the church, we have the same issue.

Re: Should I change this???
But i am thinking about the other side now..
what about the people who live close. They often will come dressed casual nice to the church go home and get dressed.
Plus im thinking your guests may only have 1 hour to kill. that isnt terrible and it is YOUR wedding. Personally i would want that time to get ready.
My Church is at 2 and cocktail not till 630 or 7

Re: Should I change this???
yeah definitely all up to you, if you don't mind seeing eachother before the ceremony then it's not a problem. If you don't mind getting ready and doing all the pictures before the ceremony then that should be fine...but do it bc its what you want to do.
Listen your wedding is not the first to have a gap, which btw really is not a bad one, and it wont be the last...Infact, this is what is expected and like all the weddings before you, it always works out and people will find something to do or work it out. Just make sure you are definitely happy with this decision.
Also keep in mind that since it is on a friday, there will be alot of people who will go straight to the reception.

Re: Should I change this???
It totally depends on you guys. Like everyone said. My mass is at 4:30 and my CH is at 7...
Honestly, if you keep it like it is, you should be fine. You're having at the BYC. Beautiful views. Maybe you can ask your RH if they can open the bar and run a tab for you? Otherwise, guests can just buy themselves a cocktail and enjoy the view.
I wouldn't worry about the guests too much. I've been to plenty of weddings where I didn't know what to do with myself for 2 or 3 hrs and I was grumpy about it but then I got to the wedding and forgot everything I was grumpy about.
Do what's right for you.

Re: Should I change this???
you used the words earlier 'suck it up'.....on your wedding day you shouldnt have to suck anything up........other should
alot of times we as brides kill ourseleves trying to make everything special for the guests....music they like...food they like....yet we are shellling out money to make this memorable for who.....We the brides!!!!
You are not going to inconvience anyone!!!! Diners are everywhere....they go get a cup of coffee.....
I can honestly say that I dont think alot of my guests would do this for me. And im not about to do it for them, and neither should you! If hes not crazy about seeing you before hand, then dont...keep the gap! Gives ppl time to get lost and find their way....even guests like to freshen up and go potty, and get coffee and reapply makeup....
Think of yourself....this is the one day where we should have an all access selfish pass....
These are our dearest family and friends and they should be understanding.....
were including a little note in our invites that points out places to get a cup of cofffee in the mean time...im just typing up a lil blurb on my comp.
hth!

very well said .
Honestly the time FLIES!!!! after the ceremony everyone doesn't run out, you're outside taking pics for a while, talking to everyone there they take lots of pics of you outside your church. If your ceremony ends at 5 and Reception starts at 7 its not bad at all, after the pics, talking and all that and then they can go to the reception...If you really want, maybe have someone do a little something at their house after...Our church is 2 blocks away from FH's house, FMIL said people can go to her house after, have some coffee, drinks whatever.
Dont compromise something important to you and FH for this when this is the norm...If it were them they would do it too...All of us had to either drive far, some even take planes, book hotels, have a big gap between ceremony and CH, it happens and we've all dealt with it.
