Okay, I was just thinking about changing my entire ceremony time so my guests wont have as much time between the ceremony and CH...what do you ladies think of this...
My ceremonys is planned for 4pm and the CH starts at 7..we are supposed to take pics in between, but now I am just thinking we can suck it up and take pics before the ceremony, move the church to 5-530ish and have the CH still start at 7 (Church and RH are about 15-20 mins away). Then we will all arrive to the church together with the pics all taken, take the trolley (instead of limos) from the church to the RH with our families so we can get pics over with there before all of our guests arrive and then show up to the CH about 715ish after relaxing in the bridal suite for a few....how does that sound?
FH is in the shower so I havent even run this by him yet, I just had the brainstorm!!!

YES!!! Please change it! on behalf of all of your guests I vote for the change!
I have heard from SO MANY brides that have done pics prior to the ceremony (we are by the way) and they LOVED IT!! You get to go to your own CH and mingle and eat and drink and once the ceremony is over then it really is OVER!! Then all you have to do is relax and PARTY!
Good luck!

I would change it. In all honesty, we would skip the ceremony, and just go to the cocktail hour if this was the time, unless it was immediate family.

If you truly don't mind seeing your FH before the eremony and starting pics then, go ahead and change it. Most people will prefer no gap or a minimal gap between ceremony and reception.
I don't have an option. We'll be married at 4pm, nuptial mass, and our CH starts at 8:30pm - can't change either time. There will be about a full hour 'gap' meaning it's not travel time or an activity (ceremony or reception) time, but I figure if I've done it for friends and family, they can do it for me Well, at least I *hope* they do!!! I REALLY want people to come to the church! But if they don't, nothing I can do about it.

I also vote for a shorter time b/t the ceremony and the CH. Our ceremony is at 5:30 and CH at 7, so I'm hoping to make it to at least part of the CH. (we're not doing a full mass).
Last year FH and I went to a wedding where the ceremony was at 1pm, and the CH didn't start until 7pm! It was also 2 hours away, so we killed time by going to the movies all dressed up and walking around a mall. But I don't recommend that to guests.

This is what we did. We had a full mass at 5 and with the receiving line, we didnt get out till about 6:30 (and some group shots). Our guests went right to the cocktail hourafter
