Our ceremony is 6:30 to 7 pm, cocktail hour 7 to 8 and reception 8 to 11pm. Thinking we should pay the extra money to do the reception until 12 since the night hoes so fast. Have to find out how much extra it will be with the venue, dj and photographer.

An option: If you do the wedding events within 3 hours (including cake cutting), you may be able to cut out the photographer cost. Just add the hour at the end, but make an announcement that the reception is extended.

I think it depends upon your visitors. If majority of them would like to stay even more, let them I think. I have found a beautiful site regarding wedding reception venues. You might want to check it. It might help a little. weddinspire.com

It all depends on the party. If its a fri or sat night & everyone's dancing and having a good time then yes I would extend it an hour. If its a Sunday wedding I wouldn't extend it because a lot of people have work the next day.

Why are they only giving you a 3hr reception? isn't the standard time for most venues 4hrs?

I would, definitely. Three hours seems short for a reception. I'd definitely extend it to midnight.

If your wedding is on a weekend then you can expect your guest to stay back till late. So then its worth extending your time...

I didnt know Sunset even offered a 3 hour reception.. I would double check with them. Even their sweet 16 packages are 4 hours...

The one they gave us was for only 3 hours. Its the Family Economy menu I think it was called. How many hours do you have anglicd77 and mcc2m?

Did you find that a lot of guests left around midnight? We have 8-9 CH and 9-1 reception...I'm concerned that its actually too late and many people wont stay
