Or is it too soon. Last time I called the seamstress (like mid-August). They said it was too soon and to call back at the end of September. On October the 2nd, our wedding will be exactly four months away. What do you girls think?

How long do you think they will take the alterations. I would start getting them done in Oct but it depends how you react to stress the last couple of months before the wedding (weight loss et al)

my first appt for alterations is October 20th - a little less than three months before the wedding
most people wait until the two month mark but the seamstress has never seen me in my dress so i want to make sure everything is okay earlier.

well i plan on making my second fitting in december like a month before the wedding - so maybe you could do the three month mark and the one month mark?

i think they know when you should be coming in. i would go with their advice. that's my personal opinion. i'm sure they won't mind if you go in earlier. they might put off actually doing the alterations for awhile after the fitting anyway b/c it is so many months away JMO

i think you should wait....i dont know the normal time schedule, but cant you go the month b4?? especially if you needed minimal alterations.

You can go and they can pin it and not make the alterations...just to see the dress and be happy with it.

The dress needs to be taken in just a little bit but its also too long. Theres a few small things I wanna have done to it. I think a month before is cutting it kind of short. Especially if something goes wrong.

you should ask them how long they think it will take to get the alterations done, then add a few weeks to that for yourself just to be safe.

my wedding was at the end of february--and i started my alterations in the beginning of December.
i had 5 freaking fittings.
i think you can wait until around november for your dress (the beginning) for the first fitting to see how much work will be needed
