Should I get this fixed?

Should I get this fixed?

Ok ya'll...I am torn (can you believe it)?

Quick Backstory: About 10 years ago I had my maxilla fractured and the way it healed caused a bit of a receding gumline over one tooth as well as a gap that I never had. (Before that my teeth were just about perfect...all I had was the small spaces at the bottom row...not that they bothered me).

On the one hand, I think I should get my teeth fixed (invisaline or some other form of braces) now so that they'll be all corrected before the 2 weddings I'm in (my brother's and of course mine) next year.

On the other hand, I feel like I'm 'wasting' money that can be spent somewhere else. *BIG SIGH*

What are your thoughts/suggestions? Don't worry I have thick skin...lay it on me!

I would do it. It is an investment that will last the rest of your life. I can't think of anything more important to invest in than yourself! When we are planning our weddings, we spend so much money on things for the one day, but your smile is forever!

(I don't think its bad the way it is, but if it was perfect before your accident, and it bothers you now, you should go for it!)

IMHO.. i would get it fixed.. NOT because of what other people say/think but obviously it bothers you. you will have your wedding pictures to look back on for years to come.. do you want to look at them 20 years from now and be

i think it would be money well spent. this is YOUR wedding and YOUR special day all about you.. once in a lifetime... go for it. be happy!

Honsestly, it's hard to say without seeing your entire face. It may just fit perfectly with your face and make you unique. But if you think you'll look at your wedding photos for 50 years and always wish you had fixed them, then go for it!

dh only had a closed smile in all of our pics since he has imperfect teeth - he was so terrified about opening his mouth even slightly and the photog's kept saying SMILE and he was like I am! If your going to get it fixed do it now if not they can always photoshop in if it bothers you. I told dh this but he still wouldn't open his damn mouth IoI

Re: Should I get this fixed?

You are talking to someone here who went ONE FULL YEAR WITHOUT A FRONT TOOTH. This ended up costing me 1,000's for surgery and an implant. It was upsetting to spend, but very important.

Fortunately, I had a temporary tooth that I could take in and out (lots of FUN!!! - NOT JOKING :)

Anyway, yes, you should fix it if it was perfect before!! Unless you do not mind it...if you are happy with the way your teeth are then leave them alone. If you aren't fix them!

Re: Should I get this fixed?

Do you have a dental plan bc it would cover the cost for most of it. I know it s*cks but if there is an issue its always good to just get it fixed. I had a problem that I ignored for a while and it just got bad. I have to get the problem fixed now and have been going to the dentist 2x a week for a few weeks now. Had to get an infection fixed, had to stay on anti-biotics, then went back to get a root canal but they couldnt do it bc my apex was broken, so i had to have my tooth extracted. Now i have to go get an implant, wait 2 months for that to grow and then get the crown. Then i have to correct the other side bc my problem is that i had 2 root canals that the previous dentist messed up and broke my apex, so the root is broken and what caused an infection. So bc of bad root canal jobs, i have to go through all this now.

i say go for it !!!

Back when i was in second grade my front teeth met the gym floor at school... since then i've had to deal with bonding, root canals and metal backings... for my birthday my parents bought me what I call my 'celebrity teeth'.. they look exactly like all the other teeth in my mouth and it was the best present they could ever buy me...

now i love my smile !!!

when i was 17 i had a rollerblading accident and two of my front teeth got chipped.. i went through nightmares of fix ups and finally decided to invest money into a good cosmetic dentist, best decision i ever made... i am now not self concious about my smile!

Yes, if you have the funds to do the work then definitely get it fixed. It will make you feel better about yourself and boost your self confidence.
Good luck,
