its really up to you. im sure most guests would appreciate the shorter reception...

but IMHO i cant imagine having a sacrament without having a mass. i wont be suprised if not many ppl go up to recieve communion. but like i said, this is a sacrament and our first mass together. i wouldnt feel right NOT having it....

We are not having a full mass. We met with a Deacon who can not do a full mass and we really liked him so we decided to stick with him instead of changed to get the mass. I think you should do what is best for you, FH and your families.

I am having a full mass.....FH and I wanted it, and even if we didn't, our parents would have made us have one. The priest that is doing our mass is a family friend and is the same one that did my brother's and my friend's a couple of weeks ago. They were both under an hour and I already told him that I need to be out of church by 6:00 (mass starts at 5:15) - and he promised. he did the same for my brother, so i have no worries.

and yes, the only difference between a ceremony and a mass is communion. my cousins had a ceremony back in oct and we were in church for just about an hour. i think it all depends on the priest you have.

No, FH and I are not really religious so we are not having a mass. His family is Catholic and mine is not. His family is happy with whatever we decide to do. Also, don't want everyone sitting at mass for so long. But you should do what makes you happy and what you have always pictured doing.

I am jewish and feel really uncomfortable when I am invited to a wedding with a full mass, esp when everyone gets up to receive communion.

FBIL had the longest full mass ever when he got married (wife is very very religious).

We are having a full mass. I was married once before and the marriage was a disaster and I didnt have a full mass that time. Not taking any chances this time, I need all the blessings I can get!!

Besides...FILS are hard core Sicilian and they probably would disown us if we didnt have a mass.

I wanted to have a full mass but since the church is 11:00am and my CH starts at 1:00pm I dont think we will have enough time. Its cutting it close with just a ceremony

I am not Catholic and although as a guest I would certainly not be thrilled about having to sit through a full mass - I think the decision is to you and FH. If most of the guests/family is practicing catholics and would like it and If you want one go for it - but I don't think ya need it...
