Should I invite this person? (long)

Should I invite this person? (long)

My wedding is more than a year away, but I will be sending out STD's in about a month, so I have been contemplating the guest list and am on the fence about sending one, so I am coming to my LIwedding girls for advice!

I was friends with this girl starting in fifth grade, all the way through high school. When we went to college, the friendship died off somewhat, but we still kept in contact and managed to see each other. After college, the same thing, not as strong as HS, but still a friendship. When I got engaged, I was excited to call and tell her the news, since we had been friends for so long, I still considered her one of my good friends. When I spoke to her her reaction was not excited like the rest of my friends, but went along the lines of 'thats kind of fast, isn't it?' (FH and I had been dating a little over a year at this point.) I still can't figure out this reaction. I can't think of any reason she would be jealous, she had been dating a guy for almost a year (who I had never met, by the way). A few weeks after the proposal, my birthday came and went and I didn't even get a phone call. It had been tradition for us to go out every year. We got engaged in Dec, and now it is almost May and I haven't heard anything from her, not anything asking how the plans or going or even how I am doing. Granted I haven't called either, but I have been very hurt by all of this. So now I am deciding who to send STD's to and I have pretty much decided not to send her one but I wanted some unbiased opinions.

If you send her a STD, you have to invite her to the wedding. I'd skip the STD and decide next year if you want to invite her to the wedding.

i say no, don't invite her. she is obviously not that excited about your wedding and probably wouldn't even come if you invited her. if she's going to be pissy baout not getting invited, let her. i wouldn't even give her a second thought

i was about to say that too.
anyway, she may be jealous - even if she is with someone, she's been with him the same amount of time as you and FH, but she's not engaged, right?

my last post was kind of similar to this...
because even though i am invited to friend's wedding, i was not planning on inviting her

If i were you I dont think i would invite her... this may not be the popular vote or opinion, BUT... weddings are expensive...why invite someone you dont talk to?

On the otherhand, you need to think about why she isnt hasnt called...especially since your bday went by without acknowledgment

you say she isnt jealous because she has a boyfriend, BUT maybe she is jealous because she wants to be engaged and isnt, (it is so silly for her to think like this, but some people do)

I would hold off on sending the STD and wait and see if she contacts you at all and work things out before the wedding. Not sending the STD leaves you the option down the line of inviting her if you should start talking again!! Sending an STD now means you will definitely have to invite her to the wedding. I would just wait it out!!

I think you should evaluate whether this is someone you want in your life. If her friendship doesn't mean that much to you anymore and if you don't miss the friendship, or whatever relationship the two of you had, I would not invite her. From your description it doesn't sound like she's a true friend seeing as though she forgot your birthday and wasn't happy at the news of your engagement. As I've grown older, I've weeded out those people that were in my life but didn't add anything to it. I hate being surrounded by needy and negative people who aren't supportive and aren't there for me. Just because you know this person since childhood shouldn't make you feel like you have to keep in touch with her. And so, after this longwinded response, I would not send her the STD. Figure out whether this is someone you want in your life, and then decide on the invite.
