Should I listen to FH or not

Ok, our wedding is on Sunday, July 6, 2008. Being that it's right after the July 4th weekend, which happens to fall on a Friday next year, I thought that it would be necessary for us to send STDs to our guests. FH feels different and says that we could use that money towards something else and suggests that we only send out invites. My thing is, with July 4th falling on a Friday people may plan a long weekend trip and return Sunday evening, which would not be good for us.

So, should I send them or is FH right when he says that we can use the money towards something else.

I am getting married on the 5th and wanted to send them but FH didn't want to (we didn't send them). We're having a small wedding so we personally told people but it really is a good idea because it is a holiday weekend.

I think you should def. send them, and send them soon! Our wedding is just a Sat. night in June but we sent them. You can def. do in on the cheap tho. Check out Vistaprint .com, get simple postcards, for free. They always run promotions where the only cost is shipping! and postcard rate stamps are even cheaper.

We used the postcards, and we attatched it with fold foil ribbon to packets of info, including hotel info, and a weekend itineray, since we're having a weekend of celebration. Postage for that was 97 cents each.

It's a small price, compared to having to worry if your guest can make it

I think you should Definitely send them ESPECIALLY b/c its a holiday weekend. They dont cost that much and it will be worth it. We sent out ours over a year in advance b/c ours is the Friday of Memorial Day weekend and we know alot of people go away.

I agree with the above. FTR, I've never received a snail mail STD. It was always word of mouth or e-mail. So if you're concerned about cost, you could use those methods.

I think you should, ours is around new years so we defiantly wanted people to know when ours was, and we got alot of yes's so far! so i think it helps

in an effort to limit the guests that come to the wedding, we only sent a few to the people we really wanted to be there. i know it sounds bad, but our guest list had jumped from 180 to 230...so i had to take drastic messures. if you're worried about the cost, i suggest to look into vistaprint once in a while they have sale. i managed to get my postcards for free. all i paid was shipping

I'd def send them!!! I had my wedding this past 4th of July, and we sent ours out in late Dec. A lot of people do go away that weekend. We invited around 210 people and we had 142 come to the wedding!

Our wedding is July 5, and we thought the same thing...that people will probably be planning a long weekend away, so we sent them!!

There are some cheaper websites that do a a great job. Ours were heart shaped magnets that came from www.agiftfulheart.com, and they only cost a buck each!! I got them to throw in envelopes for free because i mentioned LIW!!!!

I dont think STD's are necessary BUT for holiday weekends i think they are, especially with 4th of july...ALOT of ppl go away 4th of july weekend and book their trips ahead of time. If EVERYONE knows your date already then its ok i guess.

Def send them!..We are getting married on a holiday weekend too and we didnt want anyone planning vacations!..To save money make them yourself!...but i def suggest sending them out

I would definitely send STDs in your situation! If you absolutely can't afford to send them, maybe print out little STD 'slips' to include with your holiday cards this year? Or, send an STD 'e-mail'

Assuming you can afford to spend SOMETHING on STDs there are a lot of really reasonable options out there and a lot of places have specials. You can also cut down the # of people you send them to.

I think you need to get the word out somehow though..
