Should I reschedule (info inside)

Yesterday I was suppose to have an appointment at 1pm with a makeup artist. I know that the weather was awful, but she emailed me that she was coming. At about 1:10 she called and said that she was lost and had been for quite some time. I live in Washington Heights right near the A train. I asked her where she was and then instructed her where to go. Well, about 30 min. later she called back and said that we would just have to reschedule because she could not find my place.

Now, here is where my skeptical nature comes into play. My place is not hard to find. You could ask anyone on the street(I live on a main street) how to get to my street and then follow the #'s. I honestly don't think she came here. I think that she did not want to be out in the weather yesterday(I don't blame her) and lied to me. Now, I am not sure that I want to reschedule. Should I?

Re: Should I reschedule (info inside)

I wouldn't reschedule. Somebody like that would give me a bad gut feeling. She came all the way out, got lost, so decided just to go home?

Weird......

Wow, we're neighbors.. I live near Fort Tryon...lol

JMO- If you really like her work, then I'd give her another shot. If not, then I would look for someone else.

Re: Should I reschedule (info inside)

That is kind of weird. If you go out in inclement weather would you just give up and go home if you get lost a little???? I know I wouldn't.

Why hello Neighbor!!!!

I don't really know her work . I actually have an appointment with someone else in a couple weeks. I think that I will just stick with her. I have seen her work.

Re: Should I reschedule (info inside)

Even though I understand you skepticism- I also know how easily I get lost even in easy to find places sometimes. I have done exactly what she said- once on a job interview. I got so lost in the city that I eventually was so late I felt dumb and found my way home instead. (some of us are really dumb behind that wheel- LOL)

I think that if you liked what you saw her do to others- jsut reschedule!

Re: Should I reschedule (info inside)

Do you have references from other people about her? If you don't and you feel weird - I wouldn't use her - what happens when she gets lost on your wedding day? She turns around and goes home???

Re: Should I reschedule (info inside)

I also think its wierd. When i get lost (as I often do- hehehe), my goal is to get to the place as soon as possible- not turn around and go home.

Re: Should I reschedule (info inside)

The last thing you want is someone you can't rely on to be one of your wedding vendors. Don't do it. I was a homecare nurse for many years and no matter how lost I was at times, and believe me I got lost quite a bit. I always made it to where I had to be. You just do it when your professional. There's tons of makeup artists out there. You could get some recs for others to try out on this site from the girls.

Re: Should I reschedule (info inside)

I am also bad with directions and feel threatened when I have to go to an obscure location by myself. I have to actually go for dry runs before the actual day I have to go. But it happend to me with a friend who had moved. They lived in queens, I winded up in Brooklyn. Found a way to get back home and did so. I panicked.

Re: Should I reschedule (info inside)

It does seem fishy but maybe she deserves the benefit of the doubt. I am not quite sure what I would do but I think it depends on how much you want to use her.

Re: Should I reschedule (info inside)

I don't know, to me I would feel funny about having her for my wedding, since she just gave up and went home after getting a little lost for your trial. I wouldn't trust that she would show up on my wedding!!
