Here's the story: My cousin/best friend is my maid of honor. Lately she's been making snide comments about how much this wedding is costing her. Meanwhile, my sister has been the one purchasing EVERYTHING. I overheard ( ) two of my bridesmaids talking and found out that my sister is asking about $250 from each bridesmaid to cover the costs of the bridal shower AND the bachelorette party. I thought that was pretty reasonable considering the last wedding I was in, I was asked to contribute $550. Should I confront her on this? I was thinking of giving her the option of dropping out of the bridal party because Im just tired of hearing what a burden I am on her.

Re: Should I say something or just let it go?
I know it can be frustrating.. Is she in college or something?
2 of my bride maids are in school and broke. I think my mom is picking up most of the shower, so it doesn't fall on the girls. I paid the down payment on my sisters dress. Maybe she just doesn't have it - perhaps give her the option of leaving the bridal party - maybe that will hepl

I would just tell her how you feel ask her if it is too hard on her financially and give her the option if she wants to step down. I have a similar situation my sister is paying for everything it is driving me crazy!!!

Her sister is also in the bridal party and she just declared bankruptcy. She's going through tough times and yet I havent heard one complaint from her. She seems genuinely excited for me, but that's not the case with my MOH. She makes a decent living and I cant say she doesnt have any money because she goes shopping EVERY week and notoriously spends money like water.

That's not an expensive amount, and personally she shouldn't be complaining if your sister is paying.
What a nice sister!

My feelings EXACTLY So now Im at the point where I feel I should confront her, but the last thing I want to do is come off as bridezilla.
Thanks DBT!!! Im truly blessed to have such a wonderful sister!!!! Other than my FH, she is the only other good thing about this wedding.

Normally I would say let it slide. BUT, since she's your cousin and MOH AND has been making snide comments she's clearly looking for a talkin'.
Speak to her and tell her how 'excited' you are that she's your MOh, but you can't help feeling that maybe she doesn't reciprocate the feeling. Then ask her if there's anything in particular that's bothering her and if she feels she can fulfill her role...because 'bride brain' is a real thing and you'll get nuttier, so you need someone trustworthy and steady.
See what she says.
Good luck!

I would say something i guess (if you can) calmly and nonbridezillaish!!! lol maybe something like i have noticed you have been making little comments latley and that has been really bothering me and hurting my feelings at the same time, if you feel that you dont want to participate in my wedding please tell me instead of making little sarcastic comments

Defintiely say something to her. She should not be making comments like that when she has the money to contribute.

I would say something but take a different tack. I would say I noticed you have been concerned that you are spending so much money to be in my wedding and this really upsets me. Then I would say, very nicely, if this is really hard on you, on completely understand if you need to bow out. I don't want you to be hurt finacially.
No doubtedly, she will feel very guilty and cut out her complaining.

I am not sure but I would probably bite my tongue at this point. If it was like a year ago that would be a different story but you dont have too much time left. Sorry

I would definately confront her on this. I would ask her if she truly feels what she says, that this is all way over her budget and she can't afford it. If this is so, I would give her the option of dropping.
