that FMIL hasnt started looking for a dress yet- we're about 4 months from the wedding & she said she wants to lose weight- meanwhile- she's 50, a size 8 and beautiful- I cant figure out what the problem is!

I wouldn't worry. My FMIL just ordered FH's grandma's dress about 2 weeks ago! She had to pay extra for rush order. So it can be done...it's just more expensive.
(Our wedding is in 37 days)

4 months, no way, no need to worry, she can get a dress a month before & still have for alterations if needed, it's the bride and bp that have to get everything sooooo much earlier

We just got my mom's dress this week. (We just started this week and did not expect to find it on our first try.) If your FMIL is the type of person that isn't really picky, then I wouldn't worry too much. My FMIL is and has been dress shopping since last October!
wow! your kidding! Its not that my fmil is picky- its just that she wants me to come with her and help and my time is getting more & more limited and I hate to tell her i cant do it
She's picky in the sense that it takes her an hour to pick her clothes out in the morning. She seriously stresses herself out about it lol. She already bought one dress for the wedding, but is pretty sure she isn't going to wear it.
