Re: Should your bridal party bring dates to the rehearsal dinner???

For my rehearsal dinner, I invited the bridal party with dates if they had a significant other. Those that are happily single are invited solo...

All of our bridal party was invited with guests, however, not everyone brought someone.

I think its totally appropraite to bring dates, particulary your husband or significant other. (I don't think its necessary to 'find' a date for the event though).

I've never been to a rehersal dinner that was ONLY the bridal party/family without their spouses, etc.

I think, if they are bringing a date to the wedding, the same person should be invited to the RD, especailly if they are coming from out of town or something.

I invited everyone to the rehearsal dinner with a date. I have been there before, been invited solo, and I always felt uncomfortable. We wound up with about 60 people. Thats just me though.

We didn't. I honestly don't think that you have to. If we would have allowed that, our guest total would have doubled and the bill would have also. In all the weddings I've been in, they didn't have significant others for the rehearsal either. If we had the extra money, then great but we didn't. And my MIL and FIL who paid for our rehearsal dinner, paid a lot without the guests.

I am inviting everyone with guests b/c of the followinf incident----At my cousin's rehersal dinner (I was a BM), she invited the bridal party w/no guest. ---My entire family flew to California for the wedding, yet my sister's couldn't bring their husbands, and I could not bring my FH to the rehersal dinner. I personally think that is rude--JMO---

It depends on how much the person paying for it can afford and how close the person is with the date. If it's a 3 month relationship, no.
If they're practically engaged, then maybe or yes.

I really think it boils down to affordability and what you think is a good number to have at the dinner.

I agree with everyones opinion. However, the bridal party is very small, very simple. Her mom is paying for it. And they figured on x amount of people. And all of the sudden this one and that one start pulling these girls out of no where and want to bring them. Everyone knows eachother in the bridal party, and everyone is very close with both sides of the family. So its not like anyone will feel uncomfortable, otherwise I totally agree with bringing a date. But thats not the case. In fact, I'm NOT bringing my husband b/c he won't really know anyone, except the bride and groom, and he opted to stay home. The bride and groom said of course you can bring your significant other or fiance, wife, etc. But everyone responded no to bringing them. Then this guy meets a girl and wants to bring her? I just dont agree. Because then the rest of the guys (who dont really have anyone serious) will be finding girls to bring.

I had 24 people in my bridal party, most were married or dating anyway, so I lucked out.

She's just freaking over everything, and this rehearsal dinner thing put her over the edge I guess. She feels bad b/c her mom is paying and she doesnt want to take advantage.

Lisa- She (Danielle) went to Northport, graduated a year after us.

My MIL had her best friend and her daughter staying with them from out of state so of course they were invited. I think there is always exceptions. I think that as far as everyone else goes, its acceptable to have just the bridal party and immediate family there. Its only a couple of hours.

We invited the bridal party members that were married with their spouses. And if they had a significant other who they have been with for a while, we invited them with them. But, the single people, we invited as single, we are not giving them the option of bringing anyone to the rehearsal dinner.
