My wedding is in April...how long before the wedding should the shower be? I think it should be late January/early February...my sister thinks it should be March (1 month before). What do you girls think? Thanks.

I'm not sure, but there might be less chance of snow in March. However, you never know. good luck!

My MOH got married 5/17 we had her shower 3/17.
I usually expect the shower to be between 1-2 months in advance. I dont think I have ever been to one much more than 2 months before the wedding.

Mine was 3 1/2 months before. I requested that it be early because I am in school and didn't wan't my shower to be around the time of finals and papers due.I also didn't want it to be around any holidays because they are expensive enough. I just went to a shower on November 22 for a girl whose wedding is not until May 28. They said they did it early to really throw her off. I kinda thought 6 months was a bit early. I think anywhere from 1- 2 1/2 months is good unless there are special circumstances like my request for one or your bridal party really wants to throw you off.

Mine was October 5 for a January 24th wedding. They did it to throw me off and it worked. They also wanted to do it before the holidays.

Thanks girls. They are not trying to throw me off...it will not be a surprise. I live in NJ...so they have to tell me when it is, so I can come to LI. Also, my best friend lives in Ohio and I really want her to be there...so I was thinking if we did it earlier than she would be able to come, and then come back in a few months for the wedding. If we did it only 1 month before, she might not make it.

my wedding was in April, my shower in March.
But I don't think it matters that much. 1-2 months is average.
