SHOWER advice needed

I definitely agree with the other girls. Maybe opt to have it at someone's house so this way it will be cheaper. I can honestly say that I would be really offended if I went to a shower and was asked to pay for my meal. Definitely try and talk to your MOH.

Yea.....not good. This needs to be addressed somehow. I like he BBQ at someones house idea.

If these invites are out then some phone calls will need to be made.

Sorry ITA with all of the posts but maybe you should have her change the invite to be a different type of event. Did you register? Are people bringing you a gift?
What will you do if people don't have cash on them at the event? I never have cash on me.

Just curious if you've spoken to your MOH yet?...I was reading this yesterday and had to ask around about how offended people would be if they were asked to pay at a shower. Across the board, very! She and other members of the BP should cover the cost. IMO..

I saw that you tell her that you'd rather have her host the shower at her home or someone else's home before she does this restaurant hoopla to save money. That's ridiculous. I would be shocked if I were a guest at a shower and were expected to pay!

Oh dear.... if I went to a shower and had to pay, I would be really shocked and annoyed. I would def try to change this...

Sorry if I'm going to sound a little blunt here but I would be upset if my MOH were doing this. I have never heard about going to a shower and having to pay to get in basically, and then expecting people to bring a gift on top of it. If she is doing this then she definitely needed to state this on the invitation and if they were already sent then she needs to somehow make them aware of this beforehand. She can't expect to tell people when they get there that they need to cough up money.

Someone definitely needs to talk to her. You shouldn't have to deal with this stress yourself, but you may have to get involved. Are there few enough people where you could have it at someone's home? You could come up with lots of ways to make it really inexpensive: order a few trays from an italian restaurant and make a big salad and a big bowl of spaghetti; have all of your girls bring a lunch-type salad (pasta, corn/bean, garden, etc.); have a bagel brunch, etc.

But the way it stands now, you'll have lots of offended 'guests'. I'd make sure someone does something and fast!

Sorry
