shower-alcohol

shower-alcohol

hey girls! question- is it necessary to have an alcoholic beverage included at a bridal shower? the shower is in july and from 12:30-4. My mom and I were thinking of doing sangria bunch bowls but the restaurant charges a lot extra per person and tax and plus we have some ppl that may get a little too nuts. what do u think? i've never been to any showers so I don't know.

i don't think it's necessary ... i didn't even have free booze at my e-party because of the price!

Personally I wouldn't go crazy with alcohol at the shower.

I know at mine we are doing a champagne punch. That's it. It was a lot more to add beer/wine.

Plus it starts at 10:30am, so how much alcohol do they really need?

On the other hand, I think SOME alcohol should be served.

I went to my friends shower, where no alcohol was included - and people started opening up tabs on alcohol for themselves, which kind of ruined the ambiance of the party.

I think its always a nice touch to have some sort of alcohol served. But make it something like a punch. But its def not a requirement.

when i planned my sisters bridal shower i just had them add a bottle of red and white wine on each table. just one bottle. and a champagne toast.
if anyone wanted any other liquor they would have to pay for it themselves.
not necessary to have an open bar at the shower

I don't think its necessary to have a full open bar...but you shouldnt deny your guests a nice glass of wine. Not required...but I think it would be the correct gesture.

I personally am not a huge fan of showers, unless of course it were for me or my best friends or super close family members. Honestly it is not the most exciting thing in the world to sit there and watch someone open gifts for hours. The alcohol helps a lot! JMHO

I would do a punch (maybe even like a sangria?) and just bottles of wine. You don't need to go crazy with the alcohol at a shower

I dont think its necessary...that time of day its really not a big deal. Its not like people go to bridal showers to get drunk.

I think I am the only person who thinks it is absolutely necessary!!!

I've been to a ton of showers and honestly they are boring as hell. I understand if a cash bar is necessary because of monetary reasons, but I think it should be offered. Sangria would be lovely and if anyone else wanted more they could pay themselves.

there's definitely a cash bar there...its just my mom is paying for the whole shower herself and 60 ppl are coming so far soo i just thought it was a lot to pay so much extra to have alcohol per person when i know a lot of the older women wont' drink in the middle of the day.

everyone is scaring me...are showers THAT boring?? greeeeattt! I heard she's got games planned but i guess we'll have to see.

we'll def think about the alcohol though...i dont want ppl not to have a good time!

Definitely not necessary! It can be a nice addition but by no means is it necessary.

haha! my thoughts exactly. also jmo. it wouldn't stop me from going to the shower, but i'd be a little bummed if there wasn't any type of alcohol. i wouldn't mind bringing my own if it's permitted. maybe that's an option for you?

Re: shower-alcohol

sandy - can you just buy a cheap bottle of like white zin and put it on each table at the shower? or a cheap bottle of red and white for each table or will the place not allow it?

my moms paying for my whole thing too.. less people but the same amount of $. and I feel bad asking her for extras too.. but we got the champagne punch thrown in when we booked the hall.

Re: shower-alcohol

This is exactly the reason my mom rented a place that would let us bring our own liquor. It's so damn expensive! But I don't think it's necessary.

I mean, for my crowd it was, lol, but in general, no not necessary.

Honestly I would let them purchase there own alcohol if they feel they really need it. FH and I are not paying for drinks at our RD because it just gets too expensive. People most likly will understand you are paying to a wedding.
