Shower and Registering

Shower and Registering

Okay so my sister calls me this mornign and is chit chatting about the wedding and stuff. She asked when we're going to register. Now the wedding is in Novemeber.....you think if I register in April that is okay?

Then she was asking me to make a list of who I want to be invited to my shower......
I told her that I dont care where it is.....it doesnt have to be at a place, it can be at her house or my parents house....whatever. Im not picky.
Do you think its tacky not to have the bridal shower at a home and not a restaurant?

Answer to first question: I think April will be more than fine to register. Try to register as close as you can to the wedding, my wedding is in July and I registered last May, alot of things get discontinued if you do it too far away. April for you would be perfect.

Answer to second question: Your shower can be anyplace you want it to be. You can have a beautiful shower whether in a restaurant or at someone's house. Having at a home does not make it tacky at all

Hope I helped a bit

I actually like home showers better than reataurant showers...I was hoping my sisters would just throw me a simple shower at my mom's house, but judging from the conversation I had with my little sis yesterday, no such thing is happening...

With the wedding in November I would consider registering a little bit closer to your date instead of April. Items become discontinued and you will have to re-register for them. I registered in January and my shower is in March. One of my bedding sets and a toaster oven has been discontinued and I've only been registered for a little over a month

I think June/July might be a better idea. JMO

i love the idea of having one at home, and April isnt too late to register.

Our wedding is in August and we started registering the end of last year just to see what things we liked and to get ideas. We plan to finalize it in May/June. But I don't see anything wrong with starting to browse to get ideas of what you want.

I honestly think in terms of registering, the sooner the better. Depending on how many places you register, it can be very overwhelming. you have to pick out plates, bedding, appliances etc, its very time consuming. and then you have the option to update it online, so trust me, you will be on your computer making changes left and right!, and then you'll want to go back to the store to see the items in person and make sure you like it!! I registered like 8 months ago and i still move things around. i just recently stopped only b/c people are starting to buy things...
so my advice, go now at your leisure so you have plenty of time to play...- also figure your shower is normally 2-3 months b4 the wedding so you might want to start looking around..

anyhow, as for the where a shower is held, i dont think its tacky. A shower is a shower whether its in the backyard or in a restaurant.

good luck!!

I agree w/ both of these answers! We too registered last year and found that ALOT of items are discontinued - you will be just fine. IMO - home parties are the best!

A lot of items will get discontinued, but you might also need several trips to figure out what you want/need to register for, so allow time for that as well.

As for home/restaurant, I've been to both and they are equally nice. Don't worry about it, do what you like!

Re: Shower and Registering

not everything gets discontinued. main staple items will always be around- like blenders etc.
the only thing that gets discontinued really is the bedding and maybe bathroom accessories.

i didnt find any discontinued items on mine, i registered like 8 months ago...
