shower controversy

shower controversy

So we have roughly 300 people on our guest list.. I just heard through the grapevine that my MOH is inviting only 40 people to a shower in the city (I live in Nassau). She has pretty much cut out all of my FH's family and most of my friends.. She is leaving for a 2 week vacation tomorrow.. Any suggestions.... I almost want to bag the whole idea of a shower.. P.S. My mom is gone so my MOH is on her own (even though everyone has offered to help and she has rejected all offers).. So frustrated and sad..

didnt she ask u for a list or consult with anyone? i would def. try to speak to her about it and explain that you understand that everyon cant be invited but that you have people that will be hurt if theyre not included and maybe she can change it??

I gave her my guest list.. And at the risk of sounding a bit whiney.. its not about the money.. Money has been offered..

well, if u gave her a list and im assuming you included FH's family and your friends, then i find it odd that she would exclude those groups of people
i would def. have to say something because you dont want them to thin u didnt include them

im sorry

in this situation i would say that you have to talk to her...i dont know what is going through her head to be honest but you need to sit her down and explain to her that it is VERY rude not to invite your FH's family and that they are going to be insulted when they find out and put you in a very bad and uncomfortable situation, ALSO the same goes with your friends...You need to give her a list of those you DEFINITELY want there and tell her sorry but she has to stick to it bc its very important for you to have these people here and also it would be nice if you dont start off on the wrong foot with fh's family...tell her if its money problems to just take the money that you offered and thats it, otherwise not to do one.

Well said, as your MOH she should be looking out for you best interests and not inviting FHs family can cause problems...

Re: shower controversy

Thanks for your advice ladies. I just learned of the controversy tonight. My MOH is leaving for a 2 week vacation to Europe tomorrow. She also works nights so I can't talk to her because she works til 2 am. I believe she thinks she's doing what I want, but she simply doesn't know too much about my day to day life. Kind of makes me sad..

Re: shower controversy

i think it is wrong to cut people out who are local and your family and your fh's family and friends. I wouldn't invite the entire female population on your wedding list who are out of town.

But she should of never cut out an entire side unless she wants separate showers.
