Who is responsible for the shower as far as planning and expense...and what do they usually cost. (I know I shouldnt even concern myself) but my family is far away...and I have to help in a sense.

Shower dilemna

According the Emily Post etiquette- a friend of the family or your bridal party should throw you a shower. 99.9% of the time I follow Emily Post, by the book etiquette. but in this case, showers can be very expensive so normally Moms help pay for the shower. I know that my mom and stepmom are going to throw my shower for me and split the cost. I am sure my BMs will help with favors, decorations, cake, stuff like that. But the majority of the costs will split between my Moms. What is the dilemna? Are you being asked to help figure this out?

Shower dilemna

I have been in many weddings (always a bridesmaid, FINALLY a bride!) and it has varied from shower to shower. I have been in one where the bridal party bought nothing except decorations, a few where the party was given a couple of hundred from the MOB, and then we paid the rest, and ones where the MOB paid nothing, and the party paid the entire expense. I will be one of those brides...my mother is struggling, and therefore, will not be able to help out with the expense of the shower. So it really depends on the financial status of many...but I have a party of 9, which should definitely help ease the cost somewhat...good luck!

Shower dilemna

I have been in 3 bridal parties and all three times the brides maids have paid for the shower, in all 3 times the mother of the bride also chipped in some $$. Usually we paid $200 each, the last shower I was in was more expensive. Depends on if you have in restaurant or hall or home. and what gift is bought. But I always figure if the shower is more expensive then spend less on gift and if the shower is less expensive buy a more lavish gift. Hope this helps. Since really throwing the shower is part of the gift!! Kim
