Shower Dilemna

Shower Dilemna

I was recently speaking to my mom and one of my MOHs (i have 2) about my shower. I was thinking that I would have it the Sunday before my wedding, which is on a Saturday. This is because both of my MOHs, one cousin who is a BM, my FMIL, plus half of our guest list are OOT and would come in the weekend before the wedding. Having it the Sunday before would save them from having to take two trips to NY. I mentioned this to a couple of people and they told me I was absolutely crazy and that there is no way I can have the shower the sunday before the wedding, that it would be too stressful.

What do you ladies think? Is it absolutely impossible?! I just want to be able to have most of my close friends and family there. Now I almost don't want to have a shower

p.s. I am also planning to have my Bachelorette party the saturday before the wedding (which would be the night before the shower)

I would tend to agree with your friends who are saying it's too much to do in one week. I also think that you'd want to spread the celebrations out. You're pretty much asking people to devote two weekends in a row to celebrating your wedding----i'd space it out if possible. You also don't want people to be less generous with gifts because they know that they're writing another check to you in a week!!!!

Yeah it might be a bit too stressful...Also it is hard to invite guests to a party one week that they have to buy a gift for you and then the following week attend your wedding and put up more money. I do see the problem about guests having to come to NY twice, once for bridal shower and your wedding, but space it out so this way its not that big of a problem...Good luck

I def. think it would be too much plus everyone will have to buy the shower gift and then give a wedding gift so i think it might be too much for your guests also try and have it a couple of mnths before Im sure everything will work out i wouldnt stress about it too much

My mom made a wise point. My bach party is in Feb., then i wanted to have my shower in March. She said I have to let people re-coup, that it's a lot of money to fork out 2 months in a row. Neverless in 2 weeks (in your case). I live in Florida, getting married in NY and having my shower in FL. If they can't come, they can't come. What can you do?

I dont think its impossible but people will definitely take a hit 2 weekends in a row. I wouldnt do it-you may have other things you have to take care of that weekend and want to enjoy your shower.

I think it may be a little too much as well. Everyone will be sooo exhausted if the Bachelorette Party is the night b4 the shower. And also although very enjoyable it's a lot of work. As I always say those who belong there will always make it a point to be there. Have fun!!!

I'm going to disagree with everyone on this one. Its not unheard of at all. My MOH's SIL got married in July and since her BP and many guests were from OOT (they got married in Boston), they had the shower the Saturday before her wedding, then the Bachelorette party the next night. and the wedding the following saturday Everyone came, no one complained, they all had a ton of fun. I think more people will think its convenient for them since they only have to come from OOT once instead of making two seperate trips to you.

I say, if its more convenient, go for it. People will understand. And if they want to be there, they'll be there no matter when it is. As far as the money -- honestly, whats the difference between shelling out money for a shower gift and wedding in the same week long span, or staggering it by a month or two? You still have to shell out the same amount of money in the end. Its not a big deal, people will do what they have to do.

Good luck!

I think that is a lot to do in one weekend before your wedding. With that said, I know people that did it, so it is possible. It is entirely up to you about what you're comfortable with.

I would have it a few months b4 the wedding. Mine is planned for July.

I think it's too close together too. Maybe have it 2 or 3 months beforehand?

I personally wouldn't want to have my shower the same weekend as my Bachelorette Party...It may be too much. It's up to you, but if I was you, I would have my Shower for my OOT the weekend of my wedding and my Bachelorette Party, a week or two before...

I would be completely knocked-out having a bachelorette party sat, shower sun, and wedding the next weekend... and It would be a majorly exhausting and time consuming for your bridal party to have to do everything at once....

I know you want everyone there, but everyone should also be refreshed an alert on the big day!

It would be a lot especially if you are having your bachelorette party the Sat night before. You will need to recooperate after that.

I guess i would agree with your family and friends alot of poeple see it as alot of money to lay out but then your point is also wise so they dont take 2 trip so either way it money .,It might just be to much to handle all at once .
