shower...do I have too?
I am not sure whether or not to invite my coworkers to my wedding...I do not socialize with them outside of work and really don't specifically socialize with them at work either. I have my own little office so I only make small talk when I see them around the building. I recently decided that I would not invite any one from work being that a marriage ceremony is a very personal thing and should only be shared with those who I are close to me and whom I have a strong relationship with.Well, the problem is I just found out they are throwing me a shower now I feel like I have to invite them...any advice?

Hi.I am in the same predicament as you.
You do not have to invite them to your wedding.
We give showers all the time here as a nice gesture and we do not expect to receive an invite to the wedding.

Re: shower...do I have too?
It is not necessary to invite them. Although, I did invite my boss and 2 co-workers, who I am very friendly with, I did not invite everyone in my department. Some of the girls (who I did not invite), took me out for drinks and bought me something nice. I plan to do the same, when it is their turn. I think in this day & age, people understand when they are not invited. (budget, limited space, etc.)Don't worry about it. Just make sure you send everyone thank you's and maybe buy them something small when its their birthday or another celebration.

Re: shower...do I have too?
You do not have to invite them. We give showers all the time at my job and most of the time we are not invited to the wedding. It's just our way of acknowledging our coworkers special day!!! : ).

Re: shower...do I have too?
i had the same exact situation...except i am probably much closer to the people i work with and i still did not invite them....if i did invite everyone i was friendly with that would be at least an extra 30 people (w/spouses or significant others).... i just had no room for extra people on my guest list...so i kept it strictly to family and very close friends....everyone understood...i wrote thank yous for the shower gifts they bought me and i brought in a wedding favor for each of them as a token of appreciation...

Re: shower...do I have too?
I know in my office we throw showers and never expect a wedding invite. I think it's too much to invite the people you work with, if you don't socialize with them out of the office.JMO!!

Re: shower...do I have too?
I do not think that you need to invite them. A simple thank you card will do. If you want to you can bring them all favors from your reception.

Re: shower...do I have too?
I keep telling myself I do not have to invite them but they are always asking me about the wedding and sometimes I feel like thay are expecting an invite though I don't see we they would since I am not close to any of them...for some reason I can't seem to shake this guilty feeling that I may hurt someone's feelings if they're expecting an invite and then don't get it. I don't know, maybe I'm thinking too much about it.Thanks for all the advice girls!
Thrilled- LOL, I just wrote it and didn't re-read but that is exactly what it sounds like
