My cousin is having a shower, and she hasnt registered anywhere. What to get her as a gift? I was thinking maybe an Amex gift card, so she can use it anywhere.

is there a reason she didn't register? does she realize she will probably get multiples of alot of gifts.
i normally hate giving GC's but in this case might be smart so this way she doesnt return a gift you give her in case she gets more than 1.
Maybe adding something small with it, such as toasting flutes, or lolita martini glasses, a wedding album or something like that.

The gift card is a good idea- but maybe get it at Commerce- they dont charge you a fee (i think amex is $4.95 per card).

You are very good at this gift giving thing Denise. I automatically thought of a Gift card but didn't think to put something else with it so she has something to open. So clever you are

Maybe she didn't register because she wants cash gifts?? Do her and her FH live together,own a home and/or already have a lot of what they would've registered.
I think what Denise offered up as a solution is great...but I would have to wonder if she just wants cash gifts....Just thinking out loud here.

lol thank you...i just figure at a shower you might want to give them something to open up plus i like actually giving something.

The GC is a great idea - I also like giving funny books - like The Complete Idiot's Guide to Marriage... if she has a sense of humor of course.
There's also a cute book - All About Us which the couple fills out. I bought it for DH and I, we'll fill it out on our 1 yr anniversary.
She had this company write our names and our wedding date in the sand... its so pretty!

I definitely agree with the gift card (Amex, or Bed Bath Beyond, Macys, etc. - a store where she probably would have registered).

What about a big laundry basket filled with household items that they will definitely need (detergent, sponges, etc) and then also include a gift card, so its not just like 'hey, here's a card'

Thanks...these are all great ideas. I normally dont like gift cards either but I do like the idea of giving something with it. She didnt register because its not really her thing...she's not into big weddings and everything that goes with it... the wedding will be pretty small.

If you are clsoe go for some honeymoon lingerie - something pretty such as a chemise & robe.
FH & I love to bake..... so my cousin bought a huge basket which she filled with a cake/cupcake carrier, 2 boxes of cake mix, brownie mix, cup cake paper liner several packs in assorted sizes, measuring cups & spoons, a recipe magazine, silicone spatulas(4 pack) , pot holders, etc. It was fabulous and lots of fun to open !!

Is she going on a honeymoon? Maybe you can get her some GC's for the honeymoon or upgrades. My mom actually made me a huge 'holiday basket'. It had decorations for every holiday. Maybe you can do something like xmas, halloween or thanksgiving basket.

I would definitely go for lingerie. Or, the bride and groom cookbook from Williams Sonoma with a GC? I also gave monogrammed stationary before with the new monogram for the bride so she can write thank you notes, etc.
