My shower has not happened yet but I received my first gift in the mail today. Do I wait until after the shower to send a thank you or should I send it now??

my mom collected all my gifts and i opened them at the shower.. so i sent the thank you afterwards..

You *could* send a short acknowledgement note just to let them know that it was received
maybe something like this:
'dena123' acknowledges with grateful appreciation your kind bridal shower gift A formal note of thanks will follow
