I'm very much on the fence about whether or not I should invite my FSIL's (married to FH's brother, not FH's sister) mother and sister to my shower. We're inviting them to the wedding, more out of respect for FSIL and FBIL. We see them at family functions, so we feel an invite was the right thing to do. Do I need to invite them to my shower? I don't really know them that well, I just don't want FSIL to be offended if I don't invite them. Asking FSIL about is out of the question, as we really don't talk much, and she was very upset that we didn't ask her to be part of the BP. Any thoughts? TIA!

Re: shower guest list question.....
I don't think you need to invite her mom and sister. Not every woman invited to the wedding needs to be invited to the shower. If you aren't close with them, I wouldn't invite them. Inviting them to the wedding is enough. JMO.

Re: shower guest list question.....
I wouldn't invite them. I am going through a similar situation ... I do not know if I should invite my sister's MIL and SIL to the wedding. I see them once a month, maybe less, when I am at her house, at a party, etc. It would add three people to our list - because the SIL has a really steady BF, probably will be engaged by the time of my wedding - and I am working on a TIGHT list. I feel that it would be offensive to my BIL to not invite them, but in a way, it would be weird, because I really don't know them.
I am already hating the guest list and I haven't really even BEGUN to examine it.

I'm inviting my sister's MIL and FIL to the wedding, but not the SILs (she has 3)
It would just get out of control, so I'm cutting it off at parents.
But I don't think she would even be invited to the shower to be honest.

us too. i got into a big fight with my sister b/c i agreed to invite her in-laws to my e-party but refused to invite her SIL and BILs. my one sister didn't care but the other one did. I see them at family functions too and i was invited to their weddings. I don't know - i just know that if i invited them to the eparty then they'd be invited to the wedding and we are paying and i don't want that many people. I think inviting her MIL and FIL are plenty. I'll be the only one though who doesn't invite them - oh well, i'm a rebel i guess.

Yeah, FIL in this case is an @ss so he is not really in the picture ... but I really couldn't invite the mom and not the SIL ... I don't think ... but none would be invited to the shower. My room only holds 156 ... and money will only allow about 140 .... UGH.

Re: shower guest list question.....
thanks ladies! i just wanted to make sure it wouldn't look bad if i didn't invite them. my MOH's are paying for my shower, so the fewer people i invite, the better for them.

Re: shower guest list question.....
I have a similar question...
Would it be ok to invite my relatives and FH's mom and godmother only? Most of his relatives are...frugal...and don't seem as excited about the wedding.
