Shower Help Please

Hi Everyone!

I am new to the site and was told about this wonderful site by a friend of mine.
I hope you can help.
I am a MOH and I am in the process of planning a shower for my sister along with the other girls in the bridal party for the beginning of November. This is the first time any of us are planning a shower. We need help in the planning of what actually takes place at the shower. How do we make it special? She deserves it.
We would love any ideas, suggestions to help make her shower fun, unique & different.
Such as games to play, special gifts, gift baskets, etc.
Thanks for all your help

Re: Shower Help Please

It really depends on what you want for her...do you want to make a theme? In a home or a restaurant...I told my sister I'd reather have it in someone's home so that we are not rushed out, people can be casual and comfy, and everyone is more relaxed. I think a lot of showers incorporate the colors of the wedding also...someone can correct me if I am wrong.....my friend had one over the summer where we played bridal gift bingo which was fun, it was catered at her FMIL house, and the favor was a small watering can with an impatien in it. My cousins did theirs at restaurants....we were rushed out around the 3 hr mark. It seems some girls put a lot of effort in it, doing centerpieces and themes....that's not me. One flash of an idea.....small centerpieces of an upside umbrella (showers of happiness) filled with flowers (fake or real) or candy (yummy) and glitter/fake snow....candles are always good.

Re: Shower Help Please

I just had my shower and my MOH actually put together a booklet..the booklet include Bridal shower BINGO on the last page, a word scramble (which included my mother maiden name, where we live), then was a quiz about me -ten questions(who ever got the most correct won a prize), then they quizzed me about my FI and told eeveryone to write down the number of questions I would get correct (I only got one correct ), and then they had another quiz with a point system (if you have ever gone to Ireland +10pts, you live on Long Island +2pts, etc) Winner got a prize!!

It was very cute!

Then as I was opening gifts they had a timer and when it rang who evers gift I was opening would get a prize. At the end I pulled a name out of a basket and they won a prize. At the end most people won a prize and some won two. The prizes were burgundy bud vases (my color) and the alternative prize was a lotion set.

They has balloons in burgundy, a cake which I never got a piece of..oh well! The favors were lavender soap wrapped in tulle with a shamrock cookie cutter (FI is from Ireland). Lots of wine and great food!!! and great friends and family.

One thing that I thought was great and had seen at another shower was as everyone who was invited came in the room they were asked to write their name and address on an envelope - so when I send out the Thank You cards I dont have to write everyones address it was already done by the guest. I was given all the envelopes along with blank Thank You cards with additional blank envelopes. This will save me tons of time..

Re: Shower Help Please

I was at a shower once where the bridal party did this...they put together all the candles in a basket and wrapped it in clear cellophane...it was very cute!!

A Basket of Candles
For 'bride name'

A basket of candles That come in a pair
In all different colors, For you two to share
The white ones burn first
They are wrapped in white lace
To celebrate your first married night
In your new chosen place
The green pair is taller, and also much thinner
Burn with the first company, you have over for dinner
The dark blue candles are for after your first fight
Use them to burn while making up all night
Pink candles set the mood and pave the way
For your first married Valentine’s Day
Now, when your first year of marriage is through
The cream anniversary pair, will light for you two.
Red candles aflame, both your futures are bright.
Celebrate promotions you’ve worked toward with all of your might.
By this time we hope, maybe, just maybe
You can light the purple ones, on the birth of your baby,
And just when you thought, you’d put these away
Take the light blue ones out-for your fifth anniversary day.
Now just one more pair left-for the big 2 5
The anniversary pair that will keep your love alive
Congratulations bride and groom (enter names)
On the start of your forever
May the two of you always be happy together
And burn these candles
Just the way we said
But please don’t forget-blow them out before bed!

With love,
Your bridal party
