Shower idea -- no wrapping paper

Shower idea -- no wrapping paper

Although some people may be into it...For all those who dread boring ur guests by opening up a million gifts at your shower...I told my BM's to put on the invite...'please do not wrap your gifts.' They are going to be displayed on tables with the person's name on a placecard in front. This way we can focus on having a good time and no boring downtime. What do you think?

I might ask my BMs to spread the word. Opening gifts is so boring to me as a guest. It also seems boring as the bride - you know everything you are going to get. We all registry peek I would rather mingle with my guests - my shower is only three hours.

For my SIL's shower some of the BMs opened up most of the gift so all my SIL had to do was read the card and show everyone... It went by so quick that way and we played games during it to so it was fun!

Yeah that's what I'm doing because I hate opening X-mas gifts infront of people let alone shower gifts so they're putting on the invites that it's a 'Display Shower'. And come on nothing is really a surprise we register for everything so you kinda know what you're getting. Less time, less boring.

i hate being in the spot light trying to open gifts but i feel like this would be worse, what would you actually be doing the whole time if not opening any gifts?? just chatting doesnt feel like a shower to me, i dunno. i think its a special moment for some ppl who are the gift-giving type bc they get joy out of seeing your reaction to their gift. i personally am not crazy about this idea.

im just gonna try to speed it up a bit getting some of my girls help me open.

I agree ~ I love seeing the reaction of the person who is opening the gifts...especially when the person is opening mine...

I think opening your gifts in front of everyone makes the shower, I don't like the idea of not wrapping a gift either!! JMO

It's called a Display Shower and I love them. I know that my shower is a display shower I just don't know when it is.

my girlfriend wants us to do this for her. all the gifts will be displayed and then we'll have a contest- guess who gave what to the bride..

Whoever guesses the most correctly wins a prize!

We did not wrap gifts for my cousin's shower. She did not want to open them.

I went to a display shower a few years ago and wasn't crazy about it. I always like to see my gift opened. With that being said, if this is what you want then I say go for it.

I agree with you...I think people really enjoy seeing your reaction when you open their gift and honestly if u get your bridesmaids to open them for you it should speed the process up alot.

Re: Shower idea -- no wrapping paper

I understand your concern, because opening gifts DID take up too much time at my shower, but I could have had my BMs help open.

I also think my guests enjoyed watching me open their gifts, looking to them, saying thank you, seeing how happy they were.

I think some people might not understand the display thing and might take it the wrong way.

It just seems like it turns into a collection for kitchen goods instead of gifts. If a friend of mine gave me that invite, I might think it was a little tacky - like it was all about the items.

I dont mean to sound rude, but just want you to see the other point of view - it kind of makes the person look greedy and materialistic. Even though thats what a shower might be, the wrapping makes it more gift-like and thoughtful in a way...
