Shower Ideas
Anyone have any shower ideas or shower theme ideas. I am looking for personal touches that will make my Sisters special day over the top.

Shower Ideas
You could make a theme for gifts. A kitchen shower or a bar shower or bathroom shower. Or give each guest a different room to bring a gift for. One friends shower -- we were asked to bring a spice and a recipe using that spice. You could send a recipe card with the invitations and then make her a box or book of recipes from all the guests. At one of my friend's showers we were all asked to write something on a pretty postcard. Wedding Advice, etc. and then they were all put into a book. I think there are a couple of web sites that give good ideas suggestions and games if you type in 'shower ideas' into a search engine.

We did this at my sister's shower, but it took a year to do. We picked a holiday for every month, and after every holiday we bought all holiday decorations at a huge discount, and we wrapped the gifts in the appropriate papers. My sister had a full 12 months of holidays to unwrap and now she has stuff to decorate her house with every holiday. She really liked it.

Shower Ideas (I have a bunch so it's a bit long)
Something I have done for other brides is to purchase a new address book, have each guest enter their information. Now she has a beautiful new address book full of her families/friends. Also, the recipe card idea is really great. I love the idea about wedding advise. I will have to pass that one along to my sister :) Do a favor that has special meaning to your sister. If she loves gardening, have seed packets or bulb kits. Something that will always remind her of that day. Purchase monogram notecards for her to use as thank you cards. Stamp and address the cards for her. That way all she has to do is write the thank you card and mail. Have someone video tape the shower. Not a professional but just someone at the shower. Don't forgot the tripod. That way she can always remember her day. If you surprise her make sure to bring a nice outfit for her to change into. I went to a shower once where the sisters did that for the bride and she really appreciate looking nice in the photos (instead of just jeans and a sweater). I have given the holiday gift box to a few of my friends for their shower. It is always appreciated and a great gift. I make everything in my ceramic class but you can always mail order stuff too. The BMs can chip in and purchase one very special gift. One friend got a New Lane Hope Chest. It was stunning and something that she can pass down. Another got a digital video camera and the couple uses it all the time. Her honeymoon video is great. And now with a baby on the way it's perfect. I am not a huge fan of theme showers unless the bride has a full household already. It limits what type of gifts she gets and for most girls they need kitchen stuff, bathroom stuff, and so much more. But if she is already on her own and has lots of household stuff then it is a great idea. No matter what you do she will love her day. The food, cake, favors etc...all don't matter. What matters is that she is surrounded by the people that love her and wish her well. That is what she will always remember.

Shower Ideas
At my friends shower, the bridal party sent us each a photo album page. They wanted each of us to personalize one page with pictures, old memories, poems, etc. When we went to the shower we brought our completed pages which were put in a large photo album. The end result was priceless! Good luck!

Depending on where they are going on their honeymoon, you could have a theme based around the location. i.e. if they are going to an island, you could have a luau with foods from the particular location. You could also send a cards w/ the invites for the guests to share a favorite dish. I would also tie in her own interests, maybe she collects something or has a particular interest that would fit as a theme. Continued success to all...
