We're having a small intimate ceremony and reception. Only 50 people. No bridal party, just 25 from his family 25 from mine. My mom wants to invite some of my other friends who aren't going to be invited to the wedding to the shower. Is this appropriate? Thoughts on this matter appreciated.

Re: Shower invites?
Generally it is not appropriate to invite people to the shower who are not invited to the wedding.

Re: Shower invites?
however, your friends may want to do something nice for you, so they may throw you some sort of shower anyway!

I don't think its a good idea either
Maybe you could have an informal BBQ for these people after the wedding

Re: Shower invites?
It is not in good taste to invite someone to a shower if they are not invited to your wedding.

Re: Shower invites?
thanks guys! Guess small wedding means small shower! My girlfriends at work will rpobably throw me one anyway, and then I like the idea of a b-bque after for thoses friends who I had to leave out.

Re: Shower invites?
The proper etiquette is those invited to the shower are invited to the wedding.
Only modern day exception is a shower thrown for the bride at her work place by her co-workers.

Re: Shower invites?
I don't think it's appropriate either. If I were invited to a shower, I would think that I would be invited to the wedding as well.
