Shower location help - Queens (updated with a new question..)

Original post by kris_gets_hitched

Alright - I've lived in Queens for my ENTIRE life and am reaching a complete brain fart when it comes to shower locations.

I want it at Austin Ale House, but I brought my mom there while she was in town last weekend and while she liked it and took their info, she asked me if there were any other places that I was interested in. And now I'm feeling like maybe I should look elsewhere. My mom hasn't asked for much - heck, she hasn't asked for ANYTHING in this planning process, and she's going to be the one shelling out the money for the shower.

So I got party package info from a Thai restaurant.

And mom laughed at me.

Oy. I don't know what I'm doing.

Any suggestions will be lovely. I'm completely clueless about places...or at least, I'm not really coming up with anything and I've been picking my brain all day about it.

My shower will be on the smaller side (30 people, tops), so a restaurant would be best probably.

New question: I'm thinking of more of a brunch thing...suggestions on good brunch spots too!!!

Help.

How about Belmont Steaks in Glendale?

is Durros still on Myrtle?

Oooh Belmont is an idea, Celia. Thanks!

Ang - Durro's is gone. I wouldn't go there anyway because when I was a kid I almost died choking on a bone there and the entire staff did NOTHING to help me. LOL. It was actually so traumatic that when we'd drive by, I'd close my eyes and hold my breath - like kids do when they pass a cemetary. It's now a bunch of three-family houses.

LOL... dbags.... if my parents were there they would have saved you!!! They've saved 3 people that were choking!

i thought i heard that they closed but I couldnt remember!!!

My dad was a cop (now retired) so I was in good hands But still - W*T*F who doesn't help a choking patron?! I was secretly glad that they closed. Not happy that they built big apartments on Myrtle, but glad that those m-f'ers closed down.

Keep the suggestions coming!!! I'd like to show my mom a ton of websites for possible spots when I'm in Florida this weekend

With the 30+ girls we did a GTG brunch at Burboun Street in Bayside. It was very good and reasonable.

I also heard that Donavans does a brunch and i think also Belmonts does too
