so for my shower we have people coming from the bronx, nassau county, manhattan, even jersey and all i told my mom and sister was that it would be better to have it at a central location. Plus i live in queens (forest hills ) and i'm sure all gifts will be going back to my apartment, so I don't want it to be far out on LI. My initial thoughts were Bayside, Great Neck, Douglaston since they are close to the bridge and LIRR for city people but I'm looking for some suggestions.... there are a bunch of great restaurants in astoria but i don't think it's convenient. Even forest hills would be good but i don't know many restaurants that would be good for a shower? I'm thinking we'll have around 45 or 50 people.
any suggestions for restaurants in queens or on nassau border?

If you wanted to do Astoria there's a great restaurant that's ideal for showers (we had my SIL's there) and very well priced.... Punta Dura on 34th Ave (b/w 41st & 42nd Sts).
Then in Bayside, you should check out Gino's on 35th Ave & Bell Blvd.. I'm pretty sure they have a private room upstairs (never seen it but so I've heard) and the food there is amazing (plus it's only a few blocks from the LIRR)... There's also Caffe on the Green which is right off the Throgs Neck bridge... Laterna on Bell Blvd. (& about 48th Avenue), which is a greek restaurant that I know people have showers.... HTHs!!!

Theres Marbella Restaurant on Northern Blvd and 221st....they have 3 rooms all together....the food is awesome and the service is great as well. I love going there.

In Broad channel( right next to Howard Beach) there is a restaurant called Bayview that is right on the water. It is really nice. Here is the website www.bcbayview.com

In Bayside there's Laterna Tavern...great room for a shower (my SIL had her baby shower there) and good food, too!
In Astoria, there's Mezzo Mezzo...the upstairs room can hold ~75-80 ladies.

Check out Floral Park. There is a LIRR on the main branch and plenty of great restaurants within walking distance, many of which have private rooms. Plus it's really easy to get to from the Cross Island for the folks who are driving. Koeings, Trinity, Fiore, Stella's . . .I could keep going on and on. FM me if you want more details.

I know that we have had parties (one of them being a Bridal Shower) for about 50 ppl or less at Portofino's on Ascan Ave. (Forest Hills-I am sure you know this though!)
Also, I just got a re-opening letter for Giardino's which is in Douglaston.

In astoria theres a greek place called Ammos, the decor is not like a typical restaurant and its gorgeous. They have valet and there is parking around there...they have a website to see pics of the place
L'incontro in astoria has a party room now, although who knows how much that would cost per person but worth finding out, plus l'incontro has valet
theres also waterfront crabhouse in LIC, im having my RD there so if you need pricing info just FM me. And they also have valet...they have an upstairs party room

douglaston manor
Cavo in astoria-its a HUGE lounge and its gorgeous. They have an inside little lounge area, then they have other HUGE sections with waterfall, garden and much more...they are available for private parties and they also have valet

I so wanted to have our rehearsal dinner there but it's just too much money.

great suggestions! after i saw your WF crabhouse post i emailed it to my sister to see if they want to check it out for dinner.
i have never been to caffe on the green but i did think that would be the perfect location; verdi's too though is it more of a hall like the one in westbury?

OHHHHH i forgot about this place in my other post...its in astoria and its called island...the decor again is gorgeous...it lime stone type walls, all white decor, candles...It would be a gorgeous setting

i think so and I know they re-did the entire inside. The food was really good, we went there for dinner one night just to test it out. The menu they are offering for the shower is fantastic.
I have the same problem as you... FH husband family all lives in NJ. This seemed to be the best solution.

they used to not serve alcohol there just beer and wine...not sure if they do now but might be why alcohol is not included

yes its the same as the one in westbury...i know they have a smaller room downstairs but you're better off with caffe on the green

That's what I meant....but yeah, they only do beer and wine. I just meant that beer, wine, whatever isn't included in their price per head. So whatever people drink would be additional.
