Shower or no shower?

I will be moving down to Virginia in June...of course my wedding is planned for October up here. My mother today asked me if I want a shower since it can not longer be a surprise. I told her I would think about it. I think it would be nice to get a bunch of the family together...there are quite a number of sides since both of my parents remarried. I just don't want to come off like I am looking for gifts. Kind of takes the fun out of it if someone asks you So what does everyone think....should I just say yes I want the shower?

Yes! Enjoy it I highly doubt people will think you'e looking for gifts. Logically speaking you live farther away and will have to know ahead of time about it. A lot of brides help plan their own showers anyway.
