Re: shower question
i DID NOT want it a surprise, mainly cuz (call be vain i dont care), cuz i didnty want to walk in looking like a schmuck with my hair on the top of my head, no makeup and sweats. i mean, i guess they might have thought to tell me to dress up for something else but still.
anyway, i did tell my mom i really wasnt into surprises and so it wasnt, i knew the day, time, place. it was still nice to be surprised by all the little details like the favors, how its decorated, allll the gifts...very overwhelming!
looking back, i wouldnt have cared as much as i thought i would have if it were a surprise but i think im still more content that i knew everything.
i would tell her. but dont push it if they wont tell you maybe and just let things happen

Re: shower question
I was in the same situation!!! I straight up told my mom and MOH's I did not want a surprise. They thought I was joking at first but I kept saying it until they understood lol.
My mom and dad are paying for the entire thing so I made it a point to talk with her about not spending too much money (since they are paying for the wedding too)
Just be honest, I'm sure they just want to make you happy

Re: shower question
I told my mom I didn't want a surprise and not to do that unless it was soooo important to her. she was relieved! I think alot of people figure it out, I mean we all know we are having one and that its usually within the few months before the wedding!

Re: shower question
agreed with everyone else. I'm not into surprises plus my schedule is so busy it would be hard requiring me to be 'available' for all weekends in August. I went venue shopping with my mom and we picked the place/date together. places are pricey and i didn't want alot of money spent. and i'll also be able to get my hair blown out...hahaha.
i'll help with the guest list but that's it. invites/favors/theme/games etc etc are all up to everyone else.

My mom wants it to be a complete surprise...she doesn't want me to know anything. Fortunately for me, she tells FH things and he, in turn, tells me

Re: shower question
Mine was supposed to be a surprise although from the beginning I didnt want it to be a surprise. Then everyone started slipping and i figured out when it is. The rest will (hopefully) be a surprise. I am really excitied to see what was planned.

Re: shower question
I didn't know anything about mine. I thought I was sneaky and figured it out, but turns out they were just dropping 'hints' to make me think it was another time. Well it worked! Honestly, I liked the surprise of it. And I LOVED not having one more thing to plan.

Re: shower question
i wanted to/had to know. i work on weekends a lot, sometimes not by choice, so I had to have the day blocked off as 'unavailable' to work. i also hate surprises.

The only thing I knew of was the date. I insisted so that I could come properly dressed.

Re: shower question
I don't want to know. So I am no help for you. As far as spending the money I think that is really sweet of you but I know my Mom feels this is like her job. She knew one day she would throw her daughter's a shower and she takes pride in it. I wouldn't bring up the money factor so much. They know what they can afford and what they can't.
