This is kind of a weird question, but... I am the MOH for my best friend's wedding and I want to throw her a shower. She currently lives in NY, but is moving to England after the wedding, where her FH lives. She is concerned that people will bring gifts/appliances from the US that will not work in England due to the different electrical outlets. Is there a polite way to point this out on the invite? Has anyone dealt with this before? She thought about registering, but had the same issues, she would have to register at a store in England or something - probably be more trouble than its worth. Anyway, thought I would ask cause I've been lurking and you guys are always so helpful!

Would it be possible to register for a store that's in England and that provides online shopping?

Perhaps you can do a theme shower, such as lingerie or linens. Those items are universal.

That's what I was thinking, but she would probably have to pick things out from a website and she really would rather do it in person, which I understand. Plus, most of the guests will probably be old fashioned Italian ladies who have no concept of an online registry. haha. Do you think mentioning it on the invite is weird? Thanks again for your help.

I love the theme shower idea. No electrical appliances (unles they're for the honeymooners ).

I believe Debenhams would provide this service. They sell appliances, furnishings, etc. If her FH lives in the UK she could put his address for delivery. She could also just register in the US for non-electrical and smaller items.
