I was on my way to work this evening and I had a thought for something I want done at my shower but I am not sure how possible it would be to do this. When Iwas in high school and college I was big into volunteering and I thought that maybe I could have my MOH, when she does the shower invites, ask every one to bring a can or two of food to donate to a local food bank.
What do you all think of this and do you think it is too much to ask people to do?
I thought of this on the way to work because some people got laid off from my FH's job and I thought so many people need help with things.
What do you all think?

I personally think it is touching and wouldn't mind doing it at all.
But some people may get the wrong idea (it is instead of a wishing well, it is for you, etc), so make sure it is clear!!

i think its an awesome idea and agree with the above poster-just make sure its clear in the invite what the food is for

I could have my MOH make up a card to put in the invites or I could even do it myself and then give them to her.

I agree, great idea! I like the idea of putting a card in the invites to let people know what charity it is for.

great idea! and the insert cards is also a great idea. nice to think about the others in the world while great things are happening to us
but PLEASE make sure u know where ur sending those canned good to. my ex coworker and i tried donating canned goods and the lady on the phone had the audacity to ask what kind of food was in the cans cuz the ppl a tthe shelter dont eat certain stuff. we got turned off lol..
so def do your homework on where to donate.
i think its such an inspiring thread. even though this time is suposed to be about u, u still think of others. god bless
