Shower Registry Question...is this rude?

Hey ladies!

My friends are planning a shower but insist that I have to register. FH and I have a place and have everything we need, including 2 sets of fine China.

We've set up a HoneyFund registry to assist with our honeymoon costs. My MOH thinks it's tacky. Can you weigh in on this? I haven't been to many showers and I don't want to register for things we don't need.

I really appreciate it!

Shower Registry Question...is this rude?

Go to macys, set up a dream fund and register for like two sets of towels. People will be forced to pay into the dream fund or honey fund lol that's what I would do.

Shower Registry Question...is this rude?

It's been done before but I would almost feel silly having a shower with no gifts to open.

Shower Registry Question...is this rude?

I'm in the exact same boat so I decided not to have a shower because I did not feel comfortable registering on honeyfund.

Shower Registry Question...is this rude?

I don't think its tacky but that depends on personal preference, I know some people who don't agree with the idea of a honeyfund either. I also like the idea of asking people to bring 'sexy' gifts, lingerie, massage oils and things for the honeymoon. I have seen this as well.

Re: Shower Registry Question...is this rude?

I don't find it tacky at all, especially because you already have a place together. My suggestion would be to still do a traditional registry in addition to the honey fund. (For people who are going to get you gifts regardless. Might as well be something you like!)

Also, you could include a cute poem like this:

When thinking of a gift for us
We ask if you’d please consider
Contributing to our honeymoon
to make it all the sweeter.
Our house is full of all the things
a couple could require,
and so a holiday away
is what we most desire.
Then while we're relaxing on the beach
or by the pool so blue
we'll sit back and know
that it is truly thanks to you!

Shower Registry Question...is this rude?

You guys rock! Thank you so much. I'm sure there are additional things that we can register for for our home!

Shower Registry Question...is this rude?

One of the other girls on here suggested doing a keepsake themed shower - like, have them bring things that you guys will have a mementos - picture frames, possibly even your toasting flutes, cake toppers, cake cutting kit, cute plaques with the date on it, etc. That way you still can open things, but it's not the traditional housewares stuff that you dont need.

Shower Registry Question...is this rude?

We pretty much everything we need/have room for so my FMIL is throwing me a lingerie shower. I'm pretty excited (as is FH)!

Shower Registry Question...is this rude?

I actually talked to a travel agent this past weekend and she told me how she will give me these little cards for the honeymoon which i plan on giving to my mom/bridal party so they can include them in with the bridal shower invites. I say go for it! Register for somethings that you can use or even upgrade for those people who find it tacky and leave it up to the guest to choose what they want to do :)

Shower Registry Question...is this rude?

I just had my shower and I was in the same position. We have double everything but plan to buy a house after the wedding. The bridesmaids made it a new home gift card shower and ask people to wrap them unique! It was great! We got visa, amex, BBB, home depot, Best buy, etc. They were wrapped in crazy boxes, bags, tied to balloons. It really was great!

Shower Registry Question...is this rude?

We used travelersjoy.com which is similar to honeyfund but offers more of a personalized feel. Many of my guests contributed to the fund, even the ones who i thought would have preferred to shop for a tangible gift. Everyone raved about having the option of sending us a round of drinks, passes to certain sites etc etc. I had one guest who paid for our elephant ride in Chang Mai and wanted pics! Lol

Shower Registry Question...is this rude?

I hope not, because that's what I plan on doing. I like the ideas of the momentos though. I think I'll do a mix of things. We're having a jack and jill shower to broaden our spectrum. :)
