Shrubs in Front of the house?

OKay, I really hate the bushes in front of my house!!! REALLY HATE!!!

they are overgrown and nasty looking!!

we do plan to take them out and replant smaller more modern looking bushes however everyone tells us we have to wait now till the fall becuase it's too late to replant shrubs/bushes.

Do you think it will look totally terrible if we take out all the bushes now and put down weed blocker with cedar mulch unti the fall? I dont want to look at them anymore!!! they make the house look horrible, we are getting a new roof put on next week and I think it make the whole house look better if we get these damn bushed out of here!!!

Opinions/Thoughts?

Yeah, pull them out, and get the ground ready for new plants. They have probably been there for so long, the ground wont know what to do with new plants. Plus, when they are throwing the roof tiles all over the place (be prepared for ALOT of noise!!!), it will get all over the flower beds anyway. Easier to clean up if the bushes are gone!!!

Goodluck!!

Definitely rip them out... The roots are probably all over the place...get the ground ready now. LY we planted shrubs in the front of our apt/house (landlords...ugh...) ANYWAY... roots, roots and more roots!!! Anytime we dig a hole it's a big ordeal...too many roots around this place!

TAKE EM OUT. When I bought my house it had trees all around the house, and decks front and back, couldn't even see outside, so the first thing I did was have someone cut them all down...BYE BYE....took me three years to build new garden beds and plant flowers, but it looked fine. Since I am sure you are not slacker like me, and wait three years, i think cedar mulch would look great for now, you could also put some pots wih flowers out if you really wanted too!

GOOD LUCK!
