Is anyone having their guests stay at the Holiday Inn at Stony Brook? Is it true that they have a free shuttle bus? Does anyone have experience with this service? We are thinking of renting buses to take guests to & from the wedding, but if there is a shuttle I'd obviously prefer to use that instead.

Re: Shuttle at Holiday Inn Express Stony Brook
Our rooms are blocked there, and we might be using the shuttle service. They have a 14 passenger van that is free, but on the return trip if it is after 12, then it's $50/hour. My wedding is 1 week from today, I'll let you know if we use it. We also rented a school bus, becasue we have more than 14 people staying.

You're getting married on my birthday! Best of luck. Would you mind telling me the company you are using to rent the bus & how much you are paying?

Happy Birthday! One Week! I'm so excited. We actually booked LaidLaw bus company. We went throught the phone book and called all the bus companies around the Miller Place Inn. I think we are paying $375. Coach buses were way too much money!! The only drawback is there is no air conditioning, buit I'd rather my guests be safe and hot then cool and driving drunk!

We are using the service for our guests, I was so psyched when I heard about it, saves me a lot of money. They also go to the surrounding areas, not anywhere you want. I booked them and I will let you know after our wedding how they worked out. My ceremony is at 3:30 though and I need my guests to have an early check in and I didn't think about that when I booked a block of rooms, I need to call them about that.

The Holiday Inn we are using out there also proivides shuttle service until 11pm. After that it will be $25 for an extra hour - which we are paying since the reception is over at 11pm.

Re: Shuttle at Holiday Inn Express Stony Brook
I blocked out rooms there for my 4/13/03 wedding at Flowerfield. The woman I spoke to was very nice and accomodating. She blocked out 10 rooms and we have free shuttle service on the way to the reception (from the hotel), they will do two runs. I have to pay $25 for the way back to the hotel thought because it will be after 11pm. I don't mind the $25 fee, I think it's worth it. She gave us a discount on the rooms...she gave us them for $129, they are usually $149. What makes it even better is that we don'y have to guarantee any number of rooms. If you have any more questions...feel free to ask!

Thanks for the info. My wedding is 8/31/03, do you think I have to block out the rooms yet?

Re:Sheppy & Debbie08
Sheppy..
If I were you, I would block out the rooms ASAP. Not for fear of rooms being booked, but because of the free shuttle service. If two brides both block out rooms for your date, only one can reserve the shuttle service. Make sure you block out the rooms AND the shuttle service for your date when you call.
Debbie08...
Regarding the price...I think that they have a special arrangement with Flowerfield. Probably because Flowerfield sends so many brides to them. In fact, when I booked FF, they recommended that I call that particular hotel.
