shuttle bus question...

shuttle bus question...

hi ladies...

i was thinking about having guests stay at the marriott islandia and having a bus pick them up just to take them to the reception and back.

can anyone recommend a good place to have this done that is fairly inexpensive!! we never planned on having this expense in the first place because our reception is right next to a hotel. but i think the hotel is too expensive.

do you think it is necessary that we get a shuttle bus in the first place??

anyway...any help would be appreciated! THANKS

Do you think the hotel could set up shutttles for you? Not necessarily a bus, but a couple of shuttles to take people back and forth.
I haven't been able to find a price for under $750 - the hotel shuttles might be a cheaper way to go.

One somewhat sneaky way (but I am debating doing it myself...) is having the hotel add an extra $3 per person who books for your block of rooms and then giving you this $3 to help pay for the shuttle!!!

would any one else besides my cheap-butt do this?!?!?!??

Hotels won't do this I asked. They then have to claim it as income and most hotels don't want to be bothered collecting money and giving it to the company or you. One of my hotels provides shuttles and the other does not. The one that does already collects an extra $50 so it's no cost to them to hire the shuttle.

My advice is to have someone that you trust set up a shuttle and have people pay and sign up with this person. Or you can do it yourself and have people send you the money. We are going to have a family member do it since we won't be around to make sure people get on the bus and pay.

Good luck

Re: shuttle bus question...

I don't think I would want to ask my guests for money like that...plus, my FILs are cheap...so they would think it was a waste and make people think they shouldn't do it or something...I could see it now!!

It's easier for us. My FH's family is all coming from out of town, so one family member will book a shuttle and everyone will just split it. We're talking like 55 people. My cermony and reception are 25 minutes away from the nearest hotels, so shuttles are a must. No one is obiligated to pay, but if you split it amongst that many people it's much easier and cheaper than everyone driving. I''m also on a holiday weekend and I'm afraid someone will get a DWI!

I'm also going to post cab and other car services contact info on our wedding website, so people can make their own arrangements if they choose to.
