Re: Shuttles
We actually opted for a school bus. A little corny, but it was $400 versus $1400 through a limo company, plus it holds more people and will make a stop at a second hotel. The also offer a large white coach for $495, not sure how many people it holds.I contacted Patricia at First Student Transportation. If you're interested I can look for her contact info.

We did this too for cost as well as the fact that we have to transport A LOT of people. I am slightly concerned that it will look tacky but it's what we can afford

I was concerned as well, but I got over that quickly when I heard of the $1000 price difference. It's cheesy, but we're allowing our guests to enjoy themselves and get to and from the weddings safely. That's the way I look at it! If anyone has a problem with it, they are more than welcome to drive themselves

OMG this exactly! You took the words right out of my mouth. It would have cost me over 2,000 for 2 busses (which is what I need). No thank you!
ETA- my cousin used busses at her wedding and they were a BLAST on the way back. Everyone was singing and going nuts singing the wheels on the bus. Silly but it was hilarious

Shuttles
First student was absolutely terrible at my wedding-- apparently the driver went to the wrong RH on the way to the reception. On the way back, the first shuttle left, but my husband, myself, and some of my bridal party couldn't fit on it. Well, the shuttle never came back to get us and we were stranded at the RH for an hour and a half before we decided to call cabs. Taking a cab in my wedding dress, and missing an hour of my after party was NOT how I envisioned the end of my wedding. My DOC said that the bus showed up right after we left , almost 2 hours after it had left for the first run (the hotel was only about 15 mins away) all I can say is- be careful if you use First Student! They ruined the end of my wedding

I had 2 friends who used them within the last year and were really happy with them. There was a bus strike, I wonder if they had substitute drivers?

it was out of the amityville yard. i heard good things about them in the past, i don't know what happened the night of my wedding but they were awful. my DOC called the 'after hours' number that night and no one answered of course. my mom had to fight hard to get back all the money we spent on cabs too, but they finally did the right thing.

The school bus holds 48 people and we luckily have exactly that many out of town guests, assuming they all show up (which is not likely). We'll send out shuttle info with all the invites and ask them to RSVP for the shuttle as well, but priority will go to OOT guests booked at the hotels. We can only do so much
I didn't ask how many the white coach hold-- as soon as she said 'it holds less' I nixed it.

How much was the first student shuttle? We definitely need something inexpensive. Also, does anyone know of any companies that have town cars that aren't as expensive as limos? I'm getting ready at my hotel in ronkonkoma and having some pictures there and then I need transportation for myself, mom, dad, and about 4 or 5 other people to where we are taking other pictures at and then transportation to the catering hall. I really don't want to spend alot because I'd literally only need that extra transportation for about an hour and a half total.Welcome New Vendors
