How are you shy brides or your shy FHs handling being the center of attention on your big day? Any tips to downplay the focus while maintaining the spirit of the celebration?

Re: Shy brides and/or grooms
I am painfully shy. I do not talk to anyone and will not go anywhere I feel uncomfortable. I am always the one in the corner not saying a word. I worried about being the center of attn on my wedding day. Even seriously considered cancelling the whole thing because I had made myself sick thinking about it. The day of everything just fell into place. I was a little worried before walking down the aisle, but then it just went away. I kept my eyes focused on him as I walked down the aisle and everything was ok. I do not dance at all. But when the music started playing, my feet just moved. I was out on the dance floor all day and never thought about being the center of attention. I was too wrapped up in enjoying my wedding day to be concerned about other people focusing on me. I guess that is the key. Just focus on what you are doing and don't think about the other people there. And when you mingle, just focus on the one group of people you are with, not the whole crowd of people that is there. And remember all the people there are there because they love you and want to see you happy.

Thank you for sharing that amazing story. You are right, I should simply focus on enjoying the experience. I think I was most worried about mingling. I am the girl who will go to a party and talk to the same people the entire time in my corner. I admit though...I do like to dance. I think I have danced a lot at parties to avoid talking to people.
I will definitely have a drink or two to calm my nerves and leverage the cuteness of my jr BM. The article was super helpful. Another tip I read somewhere was a couple that had a 5 ft rule...they promised to never be more than 5 ft away from another so they could 'save' one another with little delay.

I worry about this with FH because he has always been shy and has major anxiety around people. He will go through the whole wedding thing for me but if it were up to him he would MUCH rather elope lol I'm just praying things work out.

I am sure it will all work out. As long as you are by his side he should be fine. As a shy person around crowds I am asking my FH to stick as close to me as possible, especially when we have to make 'the rounds' during the reception. If you have to leave him alone, just leave him with his family or close friends while you step away. Promise that you won't be gone longer than a certain amount of time.

I think as long as you have a drink to loosen up & focus on what your doing in the moment & not what others are doing around you. my only fear for the day of is walking down the isle & the first dance. the only big moments I know people will be starting at me.. but I will focus at my FH going down the isle & at him as we dance.

My cousin got married earlier this year and she also has problems like this. She said the day goes by so quickly you won't even have time to focus on it. Just take a deep breath and relax and try to enjoy every second before it's gone! remember it's all about you and your Fh on that day!
