hmm I'm not sure either. I'm going to watch this topic. I was planning to use one that kinda represented us (our culture i guess) since we are not really big drinkers and we dont have a real theme.

You could do either/or. It's your wedding!!! We don't have like, regular drinks that are 'us' so I'm going to pick ones that fit into our theme.

how are you tasting ones based on your theme? I want to try this apple pie martini but I feel weird going to a bar and asking them to make it haha

We're doing a purple drink since our theme is basically purple. My cousin did a fall themed drink for her fall wedding!

From what I've seen, on wedding tv shows and such, it is more like making a drink idea that you like fit your theme. So for example if your bridesmaids are in purple, you call it 'Purple Passion', and boom, signature drink. If you like a drink that features grenadine and therefore looks kind of pink, you call it 'The Blushing Bride', and it becomes a signature drink. It is anything you want tied to your wedding. I think a fall theme is an awesome idea.
My question is, does a 'signature drink' need to be a discussion with your catering hall, or if you are having an open bar, in theory, you could put up a sign that says anything and call it your signature drink. For example if you chose a classic martini as your signature drink, I mean everyone is more than welcome to order a classic martini at an open bar, no?

Have a discussion with the hall first! I sent over a few options and was able to pick whatever I wanted in the end (and you will too of course), but its more to that the hall knows what liquor and juices go into the drink so that they can make sure they have enough
my drink has hypotniq, pomegrante juice, and pineapple juice i think

My hall said they had no problem with signature drinks as long as they have the ingredients. If the drink requires something different in the recipe that they don't keep stock (like mint leaves for a mojito) I would have to provide that.

My venue gave me an extensive list of drinks (that can be named) which we can choose from for our signature drinks. They will be passed as guest arrive (this avoids a long line at the bar). I went to a bar to try drinks that were unfamiliar but sounded interesting. We ended up choosing His and Hers drinks that we regularly order. We really are not creative, but I do like blushing bride, wedding bliss, perfect pear, french kiss, sugar and spice for a fall theme if you are using pumpkin spice flavor, etc.

Its your wedding! Do what you want! We were going to pick our favorite drinks, and maybe rename them with wedding themed names :)

I'm having a beach wedding and our signature drink is a blue cocktail served in a little fishbowl with Swedish fish and nerds on the bottom :)
